Summary

This was a qualitative research study examining the existing relationship between positive and negative language, leadership talents examined on basis of a structured interview, and the general effectiveness which was assessed by application of a 360-degree feedback approach. The study sample comprised of 804 high level executives selected from a number of both private and public organizations. The results indicated that most leaders use up-to four times as many negative and positive sentiments or words. Most of the negatively applied words demonstrated a clear discriminating impacts on basis of leadership assessment with regards to one’s talent and effectiveness. On the hand, however, positively used words did not pose any discrimination aspect during assessment of leadership programs.
