Answer
Personality Development
Personality is something that individuals are inclined to significantly consider. When people meet new individuals, whether at work, school or social events, it is often their personality which they instantly center on. Assess if they are polite, accommodating, sociable, or timid are a few of the aspects people evaluate (Cervone & Pervin, 2019). This paper discusses the factors that greatly influence personality development as well as the least aspects that influence an individual’s personality. It is individual’s personality that makes them who they are.
According to Cervone and Pervin (2019), the three factors that significantly influence personality development include heredity, surroundings and circumstances. Heredity refers to the influences which people are born with. They are an individual’s genes and impossible to change these traits. They often include temperament, which assists in determining how a person reacts and how easygoing they are (Smederevac et al., 2020). Genetics has more sway than parents in determining an individual’s personality. Moreover, the widely unrecognized environmental influences, described as the “nonshared environmental effects,” are also considered to have the prevalent influence on personality development. The last but not least is the circumstances. Situations are the encounters that people experience. They may include trauma, divorce, death and happy moments (Cervone & Beck, 2020). All these circumstances have a significant role in developing an individual’s personality.
The factor that less influences a human’s personality development is culture. Although some studies may argue that culture is significant in shaping personality, in these modern days people tend to learn new cultures, thus they can change from their original cultural practices to modern forms. According to Cervone and Beck (2020), culture is associated with shared system of belief, attitudes, attributes, values, professions and customs that define a group characteristic. Generally, the main influences of personality development are heredity, circumstances and environment. On the other hand, culture least influences personality but is also essential in personality growth.
