Studies by Gallup demonstrate that people who have the opportunity to focus on their strengths every day at work are six times more likely to be engaged in their jobs and more than three times as likely to report having an excellent quality of life in general. Being able to make a difference in the work environment requires a person to know their own talents and strengths. Building your talents into real strengths optimizes who you really are and can transform how you see yourself and the world around you, which ultimately impacts your leadership skills. This assignment allows you to discover areas where you have the greatest potential to develop your strengths, strategies on how to do this, and whether your career path is right for you.
Many years of research conducted by The Gallup Organization suggest that the most effective people are those who understand their strengths and behaviors. These people are best able to develop strategies to meet and exceed the demands of their daily lives, their careers, and their families. A review of the knowledge and skills you have acquired can provide a basic sense of your abilities, but an awareness and understanding of your natural talents will provide true insight into the core reasons behind your consistent successes. Your Signature Themes report presents your five most dominant themes of talent, in the rank order revealed by your responses to CliftonStrengths. Of the 34 themes measured, these are your “top five.” Your Signature Themes are very important in maximizing the talents that lead to your successes. By focusing on your Signature Themes, separately and in combination, you can identify your talents, build them into strengths, and enjoy personal and career success through consistent, near-perfect performance
Directions/Warning: I will BE EXTREMELY tough in grading: Please be sure to get out your APA book. Don’t rely on Perdue Owl or on the APA function of your word processing program. Open the APA book and examine EXACTLY how to format each type of reference. There are examples in the APA book that are easy to follow. For in-text citations look at page 177, “Basic Citation Styles” for direction on how citations within the text itself should appear. This includes such things as spaces between initials of authors names, using the “&” (not the word and) before the last one, only the first word of the title should be capitalized (unless after a colon or semicolon), all words in the journal title should begin with capital letters, don’t use abbreviations of the journal name, include the volume, issue number, and page number, use the doi that you see noted on the article itself, do not use a retrieved from that circles back through a password protected site (lib.org, Medscape,OVID, are examples).
- Read the assigned text, Strengths Finder 2.0).

1-Input SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION People exceptionally talented in the Input theme have a need to collect and archive. They may accumulate information, ideas, artifacts or even relationships.
YOUR PERSONALIZED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS What makes you stand out? It’s very likely that you are comfortable offering suggestions to people who regularly seek your counsel — that is, recommendations about a decision or course of action they are considering. These individuals usually feel deep affection for you. You are likely to spend time together socializing as well as working or studying. Instinctively, you are attracted to the written word. Each discovery raises new questions. Each insight enables you to forge linkages between facts, statements, events or data. The more you read, the more you know — but the more you know, the more you realize what else you need to know. Through reading, you acquire knowledge and gain new skills. You feel happy when you are growing and becoming more independent. Driven by your talents, you probably are one of those people who reads the regulations first, especially when they apply to everyone in a group. Your need to commit these rules to memory is apt to be the way you prepare to play a game, assemble a device, use a computer program, or adhere to a standard process. Chances are good that you automatically ask individuals questions to discover their talents, interests, hopes, fears, successes, or failures. By being inquisitive, you begin to see each person as he or she really is. The insights you have are most valuable when there is a job to do. You are apt to be the one to whom others look for ideas about assignments to give each individual. You are likely to understand what is and is not a reasonable expectation to place on someone. Because of your strengths, you usually equate education — formal and informal — with understanding more about something today than you understood about it yesterday.
2-Learner SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION People exceptionally talented in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. The process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites them. Depending on the order of your themes and how you responded to the assessment, some of your themes may share identical insight statements.
YOUR PERSONALIZED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS What makes you stand out? Chances are good that you enjoy reading about topics that fascinate you. People are not surprised to find you with your nose in a book and reading all the time. When a subject intrigue you, you review a wide range of materials. You gather as much information as you possibly can about your areas of greatest interest. By nature, you prefer to work in groups. You are attracted to teams whose activities and challenges intrigue you. You usually give these matters your undivided attention. Because of your strengths, you enjoy reflecting on what you already know and on what you want to know. Your concentration leads you to major and minor discoveries. You need ample quiet time to critically examine new information, theories, concepts, or philosophies. Wherever you go and whatever you do, your mind is seldom at rest. You consider what you have observed. You pose never-before-asked questions. Thinking deeply about things is a necessity for you. It is not a luxury. It is not an option. Driven by your talents, you are diligent about examining what needs to be revamped, revised, modified, or fixed. When you are absorbed in these activities, hours pass quickly. You can dedicate yourself to correcting a single problem, especially when it directly and dramatically affects you. You probably read, listen, observe, discuss, experiment, and experience as much as you can to fill your mind with fresh ideas. It’s very likely that you thirst for new ideas and knowledge. Often you lose yourself in a book. You pore over the ideas contained on its pages for long stretches of time. Why? You want to absorb as much information as you can.
3-Intellection SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION People exceptionally talented in the Intellection theme are characterized by their intellectual activity. They are introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.
YOUR PERSONALIZED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS What makes you stand out? Chances are good that you derive much satisfaction from reading books, magazines, newspapers, websites, blogs or documents. Acquiring knowledge is as much a pastime for you as it is a necessity of life. Often writers stimulate your thinking about the people, situations or things you need to make better. Instinctively, you continually expand your sphere of knowledge by reading. A good book or a well-written magazine article can transport you to other cultures or centuries. The printed word — whether on paper or on a computer screen — is your passport to new destinations. Like world travelers, you pick up a variety of souvenirs from your reading, such as facts, data, characters, plots, insights, or tips. It’s very likely that you read to stimulate your mind, to broaden your perspective, and to explore familiar as well as unfamiliar subjects. Reading is a solitary activity, which is one of the reasons why you like it so much. You are quite comfortable being alone with your books and your thoughts. By nature, you are likely to recount — that is, tell in detail — the stories you have read in newspapers, books, magazines, research reports, correspondence, or public records. Actually, the more you satisfy your desire to read, the more tales you have to tell. Few activities delight you as much as evoking images in your listeners’ minds that bring forth laughter and tears. Because of your strengths, you probably have a fascination with numerical data or research findings. When given the choice, you probably prefer reading these reports more than other types of material. Filling your mind with numbers-oriented information delights you. Often you surprise yourself or others by recalling and using something you read days, weeks, months or even years ago.
4-Arranger SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION People exceptionally talented in the Arranger theme can organize, but they also have a flexibility that complements this ability. They like to determine how all of the pieces and resources can be arranged for maximum productivity.
YOUR PERSONALIZED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS What makes you stand out? Because of your strengths, you likely systematize tasks the team needs to do every day, week, month, or year. You commonly find efficiencies others overlook or fail to consider. You probably show the group how to make even better use of its limited human or material resources. Instinctively, you regularly choose to team up with people who candidly point out areas where you need to make improvements in yourself. You prefer to concentrate your time and energy on conquering your shortcomings. You probably argue that your talents serve you well regardless of whether you practice using them. Chances are good that you are frequently the team member who pays close attention to whatever people say. Driven by your talents, you enjoy partnering with people who bring a unique point of view to the group’s discussions. You are quite comfortable asking your teammates for their ideas and their positions on a wide array of topics. It’s very likely that you likely are the human spark plug of your team. That is, you inspire and energize people to dedicate themselves to a task. Once a course of action is chosen, perhaps you are the person who says, “We’ve talked long enough. Let’s get started right now. Why wait? Let’s just do it
5 Focus SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION People exceptionally talented in the Focus theme can take a direction, follow through and make the corrections necessary to stay on track. They prioritize, then act. YOUR PERSONALIZED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS What makes you stand out? Driven by your talents, you desire to dictate the circumstances of your existence. You refuse to be a victim. You aim to leave your mark on the world. Although you want to be in charge of everything, you realize this is unrealistic. Why? You sense you are somehow linked to every human being on the planet. Whatever you choose to do or not do affects them. Their choices eventually affect you. You walk a tightrope between needing to manage every part of your life and knowing this is impossible. Because of your strengths, you usually consider what you need to do better as a person or as a professional. You are surprised when you realize how much time you have spent thinking about an important problem, issue, or question. By nature, you devote your full attention to immediate tasks and challenges. This explains why you give yourself plenty of time to comprehend what you read on the printed page or the computer screen. Diligence, persistence, and concentration are three of your distinguishing traits. Chances are good that you seize opportunities to participate in meetings where objectives are established. You tend to think about people’s behavior. You study systems, profits, productivity, quality, or progress. You usually suggest what needs to be done better. It’s very likely that you set definite goals for yourself. These performance objectives allow you to exercise control over the events in your life. They also influence many of the choices you make.

Answer
Strength-Based Development Plan
The future career achievements of students are greatly influenced by their ability not only to discover their talents but also develop and deploy the strengths they have established (Gottlieb & Gottlieb, 2017). The deployment of StrengthsQuest assists students in gaining valuable insights into ways that they may contribute to the further development of their talents and careers within their areas of practice (Bloom, 2018). After the completion of my online Strengths Finder self-appraisal assessment, I established that my top five themes/strengths are input, learner, intellection, arranger, and focus respectively. In specific, my most significant theme of input enables me to collect and archive information whereas the learner theme implies that I am willing to learn and continually improve. The intellection strength demonstrates my intellectual ability while the arranger strength shows that I can organize resources to ensure maximum productivity. Finally, the focus theme shows that when I take a direction, I follow through it and ensure that I am on track. This paper provides a discussion of those strengths and ways that I can develop/improve them.
Input
The theme of input is my number one based on the online Strengths Finder self-appraisal assessment (Soria et al., 2019). This theme means that I may accumulate information as well as various ideas and artifacts. Such information and ideas are obtained via reading which is the primary source of new skills. I can develop this strength by ensuring that I use the information and ideas I have gathered and archived through research and study to provide recommendations about decisions which should be considered in different nursing scenarios. I will improve on the input theme by continually studying and researching and having as many ideas and information as possible to enable me to make evidence-based decisions in nursing care.
Learner
One of the shared descriptions of the learner theme is that people with this strength are desirous of continuous learning and improvement. In specific, according to Bloom (2018), they are excited by the prospect and process of learning as opposed to its outcomes. I can improve on this theme by continually endeavoring to learn new ideas in my practice area by working in unison with other professionals. I can also develop the strength by examining nursing areas and practices which need to be revised and modified and then learning about the best ways in which they can be bettered.
Intellection
In the shared theme of intellection, individuals with this strength have an exceptional talent which makes them comfortable and appreciative of intellectually stimulating discussions (Robertson, 2018). To improve this theme for my career growth, I will ensure that I am immersed in the process of reading various books, documents, websites, and magazines which will stimulate me intellectually and expand my sphere of knowledge about my practice. I will engage in research to gain more experience and skills in new and effective practice. My intellectual ability will help me participate in discussions with experts to find better ways of practice.
Arranger
Although people with the arranger theme are generally better organizers, they are also flexible in gathering the necessary resources and arranging them in a manner which ensures optimal productivity (Harms, 2017). I will develop this strength by ensuring that I organize and systematize tasks in my practice, find any inefficiencies, and address them to ensure a better quality of care and patient outcomes. Additionally, I will energize and inspire those I lead so that we can work towards the attainment of our practice goals. Moreover, I will motivate my followers to ensure that they work to the best of their efforts to achieve organizational goals.
Focus
People who have the focus theme as their strength take a stand/direction, and follow through it to attain the set goals (Gottlieb & Gottlieb, 2017). In my quest to develop this theme for my career advancement, I will ensure that I set my goals and only focus on doing activities which utilizes my strengths to the maximum. In my practice, I will improve on this theme by studying the systems as well as the quality of care and suggesting the areas which require improvement. Additionally, I will always set goals and thus put efforts towards ensuring the attainment of those goals. I will let my talents drive me as opposed to being a victim of circumstances.
In conclusion, when students discover their talents and their strengths, then they can work towards the advancement of their careers. My top five strengths based on the online Strengths Finder self-appraisal assessment are input, learner, intellection, arranger, and focus respectively. The input theme relates to my nursing career path as it facilitates research through the collection and archiving of information and ideas. Additionally, the learner strength ensures that I am desirous of continuous learning and improvement which translates to the evidence-based practice in my profession. The intellection theme facilitates intellectual discussions which translate to better practice ideas. However, the arranger theme enables me to systematically organize processes and resources towards the attainment of better patient outcomes. Finally, using the focus theme, I can set my goals and work towards achieving them which will translate to better patient care.
