Christian Leadership

Christian leadership is the act of serving people out of Jesus Christ’s regard for their lives for them to fulfill God’s plan through and for them (What Is Christian Leadership? 8 Principles | CU Online, 2018). Christian leadership is derived from Jesus’ life of serving people where Christ demonstrated that leaders should serve their subjects in love. Therefore Christian leadership is not based on the worldly definition of leadership that revolves around power. The world believes that one has to attain the power to lead effectively, but when it comes to Christianity, servanthood, humility, and love are crucial to being a leader.

To me, Christian leadership comes down to possessing values such as integrity, love, humility, motivation, modesty, correction, self-development, and following God’s will. Once a person has these values, they are well equipped to become a Christian leader. People with these qualities will be selfless and willing to help others grow and become better versions of themselves and nature them in God’s purpose for their lives. Love will make the leader treat everyone with warmth and make them feel appreciated. Self-development will ensure the leader keeps working on himself to put him in a position to aid those in need of his help. Integrity, correction, and modesty will make him/her a role model emulated by others.

Christian leadership should mean servanthood and love. A Christian leader should be willing to devote his/her life towards serving others in God’s love to ensure the fulfillment of God’s will for them. They should put other people before their needs and be willing to attend to their subjects. They should serve these people with love to transcend the love of Christ to their lives. When people are treated with love they will bring out the best in them.
