Discussion Thread: President Johnson’s 1964 Civil Rights Speech
After viewing the assigned Learn items, and using your own experiences, training, upbringing, and Christian World View, please discuss the following questions:
o If you are old enough to have grown up in the 1960’s, what do you remember from the signing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act?
o If you did not grow up in the 1960’s or are the child of a parent who grew up in the 1960s, is there something you can relate to regarding the tenants of the Civil Rights Act?
o Please discuss the critical tenants, especially the Right to Vote for all Americans, the Rights against Discrimination because of one’s Race, [Color], because of one’s Gender, because of one’s National Origin [ethnicity], and because of one’s Religion [Creed].
