According to DeCamp and Ferguson’s (2017) findings, exposure to violent video games is linked to youth aggression.  The article’s findings indicate that normative beliefs concerning aggressiveness positively influence vulnerability to violent video games and youth violence. Simultaneously, the environment sets the first element of the mediation process (DeCamp & Ferguson, 2017) for those with a low-income family environment, there is an indirect influence mediated by normative beliefs regarding aggressiveness beside a direct influence (DeCamp & Ferguson, 2017).  The supervised mediation paradigm includes some prospect of GAM and CM, enhancing studies of the generative mechanism of youth violence. DeCamp and Ferguson (2017) utilized a quantitative casual-comparative research design to gather accurate and reliable data.  The study’s conceptual basis is that exposure to violent video games results in increased aggression among youths.

Different studies have separately studied the characters of the normative beliefs regarding aggression and family determinants in the correlation between violent games and youth aggression; thus, the combined effects of these two factors remain unstudied. However, DeCamp and Ferguson’s study (2017) analyzes the combined effects of normative beliefs concerning aggression and family environment. By combining these factors, the article confirms the influences of violent games on youth aggression and the influencing mechanisms from integrating CM and GAM to a certain extent. Moreover, the study utilized a suitable research method, which presented reliable statistics. DeCamp and Ferguson’s (2017) study deeply explains the relation between violent games and aggression among youth from different backgrounds. The research is conducted using questionnaires with simple questions which are easy for the participants to understand and answer.

DeCamp and Ferguson’s (2017) study is essential for individuals and organization dealing with young adults. The research presents vital concepts about violent video games and other determinants contributing to youth violence and changing behavior.  For instance, according to the article, the family environment plays a significant role in youth development (DeCamp & Ferguson, 2017). The article explains how the family environment contributes to increased aggression in youths and its relation to violent video games.  The research method, quantitative casual-comparative research design, is essential in my research since it investigates an independent and dependent variable. For instance, the study seeks to determine whether violent video games contribute to increased aggression among youths. This study is essential in my future research since it offers reliable statistics and data about the mechanisms and influence of violent video games and factors contributing to youth violence.
