Prompt 2: An Ideal Social Meeting Place for Young People

For several years, I have toured the world and visited various meeting places such as restaurants and coffee joints to not only satiate my appetite and satisfy my thirst, but also find a place where I can unwind and spend time with my friends. Most of the meeting places I visited, I can only confess, are cool and elegant, creating a nice ambiance where individuals can chill and enjoy the good services offered. I have always admired visiting coffee places due to the relaxing environment they provide. I have stepped my feet on some of the best coffee houses in the city, including Starbucks, Java, and Cafe du Monde, among others. One notable aspect about these places is that even though they offer the best coffee in town, they lack market segmentation where they offer special space that meets the special needs of different market segments. For instance, as a teen, I would prefer an environment that does not emphasize many seriousness levels. A majority of coffee houses in the city are reticent, with individuals conversing in low tones, and this to me and I believe to my friends and other young generations, is not cool.

I have always wanted to open an ideal social meeting place for the younger generation like me. My dream is to open a coffee house that favors all market segmentation. A place where not only the elderly but also the young generation can come and relax with their friends as they have coffee. To achieve this objective, I have to design the environment, the products, and the services offered to ensure they meet all the customers’ needs. My coffee shop menu will be an integral part of the coffee house and the customer’s reason for being there. Teenagers often prefer trying new flavors different from what they are used to. In most coffee houses I have visited, they often offer the same flavors. I will ensure that teens have different varieties that suit their needs in my coffee house.

Most coffee houses are designed to be quiet where people talk in low tones, which is not cool for the young generation. To attract young people to my coffee house, I will design my shop with arts and decorations that attract the young generations, such as graffiti and lights. Moreover, I will feature other components such as low music background, play stations, and indoor games such as Badminton. Besides having a cup of steaming hot coffee, the teens will also enjoy the background music and play video games. I consider opening a coffee house close to a learning institution so that it will be easy for most teens to locate the place.

            To attain customer loyalty from the teens, I will consider reducing some products for youths who present their school ID. Moreover, I will ensure that I introduce new flavors for the teens to try as time passes. Given that youths love entertainment, I will consider hosting Karaoke and competition for indoor games on some days. Youths often need somewhere they can chill and interact with their friends without being judged. Opening such a place will not only provide them a place where they can have coffee, but a place where they can come and interact with their friends without being “hushed.”
