             The quest to unravel what makes people what they are has resulted in the formulation of various theories of personality. Some of the aspects of personality reviewed in this paper entail the neo-psychoanalytic and behavioral theories. As such, the present paper uses the case of Mrs. C to examine these theories and their applications. In particular, it examines Mrs. C’s symptoms from the perspective of a key idea from the identified theorist and offer important suggestions for evaluation and interventions to use with Mrs. C from the perspective of a key idea from the theorist already identified.

Neo-Psychoanalytic Theory Analysis

             A major similarity between the neo-psychoanalytic and behavioral theory is that the two theories are majorly concerned with the aspects of human being behaviors such as motivation and personality.   Nonetheless, the neo-psychoanalytic theory is majorly concerned with the centrality of the human mind and their thoughts. The case of Mrs. C appears to be a complex one. One of the leading implication or symptom was that the personality of a person is often shaped from the events that one experiences during childhood. The symptom of sexual arousal disorder that the she depicted can be attached to the level she was raised by her parents given that she was from a staunch catholic family, a situation that made her mother to share her repulsion towards sex. This is the major cause of lack of pleasure that she has towards sex with her husband due the warnings she received. Essentially, this is founded on the implications of Erik Erikson.

            From the case study presented, it is evident that the whole family of Mrs. C strictly adhered to everything that Mrs. C said. For instance, as shown in the case, they were informed not to put on underwear twice or even wash them immediately after use. This is the human mind transformation from the events that occurred in the life of her daughter who was obsessed with pinworm and was advised by the physician that to keep the spread of these worms, she was to be vigilant with her inner clothes especially the underwear. According to Freud, sex is the only motivator towards the personality and behavior of an individual (Orsillo, Roemer, Lerner & Tull, 2004).

            From the case study, it is evident that Mrs. C engaged in handwashing at least 30 times a day. Her daily morning shower takes at least 2 hours and in case she forgets the sequence, she starts the process again. Another symptom evident in the case study provided is the contamination, no cleaning of the underwear since it is contaminated. Mrs. C is equally unable to perform her household duties, putting on the same clothes for seven years, never attended a solon for almost seven years. These indicate deterioration in grooming and personal health. The client also depicted symptoms of sexual disorder since she hardly enjoys sex.

            Nonetheless, the implications of Alfred Adler appeared correct in that human behavior is the ideal motivator. The issue of individual psychology plays a critical role in the case scenario of Mrs. C in that to achieve utmost hygiene, it is evident that she does everything possible such as taking much time in the body cleansing rituals. As such, the kind of assessment for Mrs. C should concur with the behavioral trait disorder despite the fact that all of them are based on learned traits (Schultz & Schultz, 2016).

Trait Theory Analysis

             As already discussed, the behavioral theory attempts to assess human behavior needs on the basis of ideal environment surrounding a person who is attached to some of the associations that can be acquired from different situations (Giordano, 2019). The situation that propelled Mrs. C to take care of her sick daughter while she was pregnant following pinworms infection resulted in the behavior that she insisted that everyone must be clean. This situation not only made the house to appear untidy, but also disorganized.
