Introduction

Background
The literature on employee education and retraining shows that employers need to lay emphasis on the skills of the workers so that they can effectively contribute in the organizational setting. The prevailing organizational landscape is highly dynamic in nature. To operate in such an ever-changing work setting, employees need to possess the requisite set of skills and competencies so that they can effectively contribute to the work setting. A broad range of research studies that have been referred to indicate that educating and retraining of employees acts as a long-term investment for an organization which constructively influences their performance and contribution.

Additionally, by creating suitable education and retraining opportunities, business organizations can make sure that they possess the upgraded skills, knowledge, competencies, and capabilities to highlight their creative and innovative side while working for the entity.

Purpose

The purpose of this study was to find out the cause of employees’ confusions. Creating an effective communication between employee and managers. Education and retraining techniques need to be designed so that the employees can have lifelong learning which can enhance their perspective and contribute towards the success of the organization.

Overview of Methodology

The following methods were used to analyze manager-to-associate communication.

  • Employee may give practical knowledge or training to other employees after the completion of the course.
  • Increase the quality of staff growth and allows improvements in the workplace
  • Giving rewards and active training programs for skill development.

Findings and Discussion

Employee’s education or training

A broad range of research studies that have been referred to indicate that educating and retraining of employees acts as a long-term investment for an organization which constructively influences their performance and contribution. A few factors that are discussed in the literature include the impact education and training employees will have on our company. Creating programs for employees in their job satisfaction.

Management impact on educating and retraining.

According to Patel et al (2017), the existing organizational climate is highly competitive and unpredictable in nature. It gives rise to a broad range of challenges as well as complexities for employees (Patel et al., 2017). In such a situation organization could extend support and assistance to their workforce by taking care of their learning and training needs.

Kabra (2017), employers must assess the present situation within the work setting as it can enable them to locate bottlenecks that could hamper the training and educational initiative (Kabra, 2017). For instance, poor support from the supervisors or lack of proper communication could act as some of the major obstacles that could defeat the very purpose of the retraining or educational initiative. To avoid such challenges, employers need to locate barriers and enablers to training so that effective training initiatives could be introduced that could extend comprehensive support to the organizational personnel and positively influence their performance in the organizational context (Kabra, 2017).

In addition, Hallova, one of the key factors that lead to change in the prevailing organizational setting is the adoption of new kinds of technology. Technology gives rise to a plethora of opportunities for organizations to adapt and make a mark for themselves. But this is only possible only if the employees can adapt to the evolving technological landscape.

The impact of job satisfaction and development on employee education and training

To illustrate the importance of education and retraining, I produced a few concise questions that was completed by all six of our new employees. A broad range of research studies that have been referred to indicate that educating and retraining of employees acts as a long-term investment for an organization which constructively influences their performance and contribution. The figure below shows each question and whether the answer was correct or incorrect for each associate.

According to Paposa, the integration and training and development practices in the work setting creates a solution where everyone benefits for the employees as well as for the employers. As training and education opportunities enable the workforce to upgrade their skills and capabilities, their level of satisfaction in the work setting increases. Furthermore, such an approach also helps to create a learning environment throughout the organization that positively influences the overall performance of the personnel (Paposa & Kumar, 2019).

The activity fulfilment levels at any associated either positive or negative uncover a profound effect on the associations yield and profound. Having occupation fulfilment of representatives can be demonstrated of work conducts. There is always a room for improvement one can never say they know it all. Some companies retain their workers because technological advancements and new business development require employees to have new or improved skills.

Unfortunately, due to our current situation everything must be done virtually. I send out a survey via email for all out current and old employees to find out how they felt about the changes in the company. I ensure them that all their answers will be kept confidentially. Based on the information I gathered we really need to take time and consider retaining and educating our employees. We get lots of updates all the time, the way we do things are changes so why not updates our workers for the better of our company? According to Hallova, one of the key factors that lead to change in the prevailing organizational setting is the adoption of new kinds of technology. Technology gives rise to a plethora of opportunities for organizations to adapt and make a mark for themselves. But this is only possible only if the employees can adapt to the evolving technological landscape.

In general cases and on average, it has been found that new employees take around one or even two years to reach the level of productivity of any existing employee. There may also be more errors and the level of engagement would be also being low in the new joiners.

Employees retraining programs

By creating suitable education and retraining opportunities, business organizations can make sure that they possess the upgraded skills, knowledge, competencies, and capabilities to display their creative and innovative side while working for the entity. Education and retraining techniques need to be designed so that the employees can have lifelong learning which can enhance their perspective and contribute towards the success of the organization (Hallová et al., 2017).

In conclusion

The literature sheds light on the importance of retraining and education approaches in the work context. Most of the researchers have stated that in the ever-changing and dynamic work setting, organizations need to make sure that proper training learning and development opportunities are created for the organizational personnel so that they are able to strengthen their skills and capabilities. While designing the retraining and educational initiatives, it is necessary to consider the enablers and drivers that exist in the work setting so that effective initiatives and approaches can be introduced that can create value for the employees as well as for the entire organization.

Recommendation

Based on the result from y survey on improving education and retraining programs, I produced the following conclusion.

  •  Improve morals and job satisfaction in any case, the employees lose their assurance and inspiration when they cannot perform as per their necessities and desires.
  • Allowed more room for growth and further development in the company.

The result of this survey shows we need to really consider a lot of things while hiring new employees to or organization. Increased the level of training for at least a month. This shows designing the retraining and educational initiatives, it is necessary to consider the enablers and drivers that exist in the work setting so that effective initiatives and approaches can be introduced that can create value for the employees as well as for the entire organization.

Primary and Secondary Sources

DUE TO THE DANGERS RELATED TO THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC, PRIMARY RESEARCH IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE RESEARCH REPORT ASSIGNMENT. IF POSSIBLE, STUDENTS CAN CONDUCT INTERVIEWS OR SURVEYS REMOTELY (BY USING A SYSTEM SUCH AS ZOOM) OR VIA EMAIL RELYING ON WRITTEN RESPONSES. HOWEVER, STUDENTS MAY CHOOSE TO USE ALL SECONDARY SOURCES FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT. IF A STUDENT CHOOSES TO MAKE THIS CHOICE, SHE/HE SHOULD FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS BELOW FOR COMPLETING THE ASSIGNMENT.

The report must incorporate the results of your own primary research. When integrating primary research, you must explain the method(s) you used to gather that research and insert a copy in your report’s appendices of any collection instrument you used.  For example, if you interviewed some people for the report, you would put the list of interview questions you asked in the appendix.  If you arranged for a group of people to take a survey, you would put the survey in the appendix.

The complete report should also cite at least seven secondary sources. At least three of these secondary sources should come from peer-reviewed, scholarly journals.

Students who cannot conduct primary research for safety or other valid reasons are required to provide TEN secondary sources. Of these FOUR should be from peer-reviewed, scholarly journals.

As noted above, your primary and secondary sources will be integrated into the paper to explain the problem, to provide evidence of the problem, and to support the solution.

Please note that, if you interview people for your research, you must cite the interviews in your paper.  In the paper, you cannot simply write that you “spoke with employees.”  A URL that shows how to cite an interview in APA citation style is provided in the list of components for the report.

You might have taken WRTG 393 at UMGC. In WRTG 393, the final paper is a white paper.  This assignment is different from the white paper in WRTG 393.  In this paper for WRTG 394, you are writing to a specific decision-maker about a specific problem in your workplace or community.  The audience is much more focused than that for the white paper in WRTG 393.

Graphics

Your report might benefit from graphics.  As mentioned above, pictures of your workplace or community situation might help illustrate the problem you are trying to address.  Graphs, tables, or charts might help show trends that will persuade your decision-maker that the problem exists.

Please do not incorporate a graphic for the sake of incorporating a graphic.  Include a graphic only if it helps communicate a message in your report.

 Due Date

Your instructor will notify you of the due date.  You will write a first draft, your instructor will comment on the first draft, and you will submit a second draft using the comments as your guide.

Guides to Help You in Writing this Assignment:

Topic Selection:

For this report, you will write on the same topic on which you wrote the memo for writing assignment #3.  In addition, it should be related to the topic on which you wrote writing assignment #2.  The secondary research you conducted for writing assignment #2 should be usable in some form for this report.

You must contact your instructor for approval before changing your topic from writing assignment #3.  In addition, if you do so, you must re-submit a memo for writing assignment #3.

Submitting the assignment:

You will submit a first draft of the essay to the assignment folder.  The first draft will not be graded.  The instructor will provide comments on it.

After receiving comments from the instructor, you will submit a revised draft.  The final draft will be graded.

Subject: Request to Conduct a Research on Education or Retraining of Employees in the workplace.

Summary

Workplace training or on the job training is a very practical approach taken by organizations to introduce or update employees with utilizing existing resources in the best way or introducing new concepts. Attracting the best talent and retaining it for the longest term is quite crucial and important for business organization Training repaired employees to use knowledge skills and abilities to help better their organization mission and values. Workplace education is valuable to employees for their growth and success. It can also boost the growth and success of our organization. By creating suitable education and retraining opportunities, business organizations can make sure that they possess the upgraded skills, knowledge, competencies, and capabilities to highlight their creative and innovative side while working for the entity.

What the problem is and why it needs to be investigated

Most of our current employees know so little about the work that we do here. Just last few month ago we had one of your most valuable clients close their business with us because of a silly mistake that should not have happened. It cost all of money and the only reason was supposed the employee was not professionally trained for the job, and he was not aware of who to reach out if he needs assistance.

What secondary research I have conducted about the problem

Secondary research was conducted via zoom call. Ten staffs were interviewed regarding their views in education or retraining of employees in the workplace. The result was used to determine with the recommendation of the transition. Based on the results we have concluded that training improves efficiency and productivity of employees. Well trained employees show both quantity and quality performance.

What primary research I have conducted about the problem

Primary research I was thinking to collect from a different peer-reviewed articles as online published to have a better understanding with the transition and to recognize the possible benefits. Errors are likely to occur if the employees lack knowledge and skills needed for doing a particular job. In the 21st century, the business landscape is rapidly evolving. Such a change is also bringing about substantial change for the employees and organizational personnel that function in organizations. According to Patel et al (2017), the existing organizational climate is highly competitive and unpredictable in nature. It gives rise to a broad range of challenges as well as complexities for employees (Patel et al., 2017).

Why we will benefit from my research and recommendation

Education help people to gain knowledge and became self-dependent. The more satisfied the employees is the greater is his morale, the more he will contribute to organizational success. This type of approach will help our organization to increase employee’s satisfaction inside the organization as well as to create a more harmonious workplace. For instance, poor support from the supervisors or lack of proper communication could act as some of the major obstacles that could defeat the very purpose of the retraining or educational initiative. For example, one can understand the training in real work life since trainings are imparted to apply them in our daily work. In the bank industry some of the trainings like relate to implementation of information technology are imported in the bank branch itself. Some expert faculty visit the designated branch to explain about the newly launched technology to all the staff members of the branch. Such training is extremely beneficial as all the staff of the branch can see the systems and thus will be more operational friendly.

Conclusion

The proper designing of education or retraining approaches for the employees in the workplace can empower them by positively influencing their performance as well as productivity. I believe following my recommendations and research idea we can bring awareness to our workplace. By creating suitable education and retraining opportunities, business organizations can make sure that they own the upgraded skills, knowledge, competencies, and capabilities to display their creative and innovative side while working for the entity. A well-trained employee will be well acquainted with the job and will need less of supervision thus, there will be less wastage of time and efforts.

Template for Submitting Your Memo

Note: Please use the format outlined below, including the headers provided in bold, for the memo.

Advice on Conducting Primary Research

DUE TO THE DANGERS RELATED TO THE CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC, PRIMARY RESEARCH IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE RESEARCH REPORT ASSIGNMENT. IF POSSIBLE, STUDENTS CAN CONDUCT INTERVIEWS OR SURVEYS REMOTELY (BY USING A SYSTEM SUCH AS ZOOM) OR VIA EMAIL RELYING ON WRITTEN RESPONSES

When considering primary research, consider the strategies outlined in the following material from weeks 3 and 4:

  • “Strategies for Qualitative Interviews – Harvard University” (from week 3)
  • “Designing Effective Questions and Questionnaires” (from week 3)
  • “Writing Interview Protocols and Conducting Interviews” (from week 4)

PLEASE NOTE: While you might not be able to conduct primary research for WA #4, the Research Report, for THIS assignment, WA #3, the Proposal Memo, you should complete the Primary Research section of the memo by discussion the sort of primary research you WOULD conduct if you were able to do so. This is to help you become familiar with what primary research is and how a writer obtains it and uses it.

Consider the following examples:

  • If you are proposing that email be used less frequently for communication and that another application be used to improve communication, you might interview fellow employees on the situation, and you might take screen captures of alternative communication tools to illustrate how they work and would improve communication in your office.
  • For a report on proposing a new traffic light, you might take pictures of the intersection where such a traffic light could be built, and you might interview residents to get their perspective on the traffic light idea.
  • For a report to the program chair of your major at UMGC suggesting changes to the curriculum, you might interview or survey fellow students, interview or survey hiring managers in the field, and/or interview or survey students who are majoring in the same field at another institution.
  • For a report on recycling facilities, you might take pictures of the office environment to show that current recycling facilities are inadequate, and you might interview fellow workers about whether they find it easy to recycle materials at your office.

Examples of How to Make Topics Specific for the Final Report in WRTG 394

  • If you wish to write a report to your supervisor at work suggesting that email be used less frequently for communication and that another application, such as texting, be used to improve communication, you cannot simply prepare a report on the benefits of texting in the workplace. You must establish that your specific office has problems in communicating by email and indicate the benefits of using alternative communication systems, such as texting, for your workplace environment.

  • If you write a report to your neighborhood community association that a traffic light be posted at a particular intersection, you cannot simply prepare a report on the benefits of traffic safety. You must show that the specific intersection in your neighborhood needs a traffic light in order to improve safety.

  • If you write a report to the program chair of your major at UMGC recommending changes to the curriculum, you cannot simply prepare a report on the benefits of a certain class. You must show that the specific curriculum for your major at UMGC lacks something that your suggested adjustment will provide.

  • If you write a report on recycling facilities at your workplace, you cannot simply prepare a report on the benefits of recycling. You must show that the recycling facilities at your specific workplace are inadequate or need improving.

Submitting the assignment:

You will submit a draft of the memo to the assignment folder.  The instructor will provide comments to it and work with you on a second draft if necessary.

ANSWER

To: Shawn Alert (CEO (Chief Executive Officer))

Subject: Request to Conduct a Research on Education and Retraining of Employees in the workplace.

Summary

The principal reason for contacting you is to inform you that I am planning to conduct a research on education or retention of employees in the workplace. Research has demonstrated that education and retraining of employees has profound positive effects on companies: helps employees attain their education goals and this increases their loyalty to an organization; improves employees’ professional skills and this makes them crucial assets to an organization for the conceivable future; and improves employees’ performance, among other benefits.

What the problem is and why it needs to be investigated

Workplace training or on-the-job-training is a very practical approach taken by organizations to introduce or update employees with regard to utilization of existing resources in the best way or introducing new concepts. Attracting the best talent and retraining it for the longest term is quite instrumental for business establishments. Training employees to use new knowledge, skills, and abilities helps better organizations’ mission and values.

In the recent past, I have encountered scenarios in your organization that urgently need an address through workplace education or retraining for your employees. I have witnessed instances evidencing that most of your current employees know little about your organization’s goals and mission. Specifically, last month, you had two of your most valuable clients stop doing business with us because of avoidable mistakes that some of your staff did. In trying to amend the fallout, you expended a huge sum of money since you were forced to seek legal means to renegotiate the business agreement. Similarly, your business relationship with some of your remaining clients is hanging on a thread, making the possibility of your business dealing with them very slim. From my assessment, I am persuaded that the principal problem ailing your organization is low level or lack of professionalism in some of your staff. While some of your employees have credentials for the various positions that they hold, I am convinced that their level of professionalism is wanting; some of them did not know how to relate with or reach out to your clients when they needed simple assistance like a follow up on some goods that were to be delivered to the clients.

The prevailing organizational landscape is highly dynamic in nature. To operate in such an ever-changing work setting, employees need to possess the requisite set of skills and competencies so that they can effectively contribute to the work setting. A broad range of research studies that have been referred to indicate that educating and retraining employees acts as a long-term investment for an organization since education and retraining constructively influence employees’ performance, productivity, and contribution. In the 21st century, the business landscape is rapidly evolving. Such a change is also bringing about substantial change for the employees and organizational personnel that function in organizations. The existing organizational climate is highly competitive and unpredictable in nature, giving rise to a broad range of challenges as well as complexities for employees.

What secondary research I have conducted about the problem

The conviction behind my assertion that education and retraining of your employees is among the best strategies to consider is that from the secondary research that I have conducted, organizations’ success is largely associated with the quality of employees’ skills and knowledge. Among the secondary research sources that I consulted include journal articles, textbooks, political commentaries, dissertations, newspaper editorials, and literatures that discuss, analyze or comment on employees’ workplace performance with regard to their knowledge and skills sets. Training improves efficiency and productivity of employees, adding that well trained employees show both quantity and quality performance.

What primary research I have conducted about the problem

Not will I rely on the secondary research so far done, but I will equally do primary research. Largely, I will depend on virtual online interviews (via zoom, Google Meets, and Skype), emails, and non-virtual interviews via audio-calls. Ten of your employees are targeted to participate in this study through interview and/or questionnaire. The employment of virtual interviewing techniques and emailing is buttressed by the current global COVID-19 pandemic that has made it difficult for people to physically meet. Other that interviews, I will also depend on recorded oral histories and speeches by your employees on their workplace and how they think the same can be bettered. Similarly, I will glean knowledge and information from government documents, research reports, and statistical data. Errors are likely to occur if the employees lack knowledge and skills needed for doing a particular job.

Why we will benefit from my research and recommendation

The research will significantly benefit you and your organization. The research will help your organization better understand your employees and customers’ pain points, preferences, working/buying patterns, gain a deeper intuition into your current marketplace demographics and trends so that you know the kind of talents you need for your organization to compete edgily or stay above the competition. The research will also help you know how to reduce unnecessary costs and losses, especially with regard to employees and clients, and design solutions that target at bolstering your organization’s goals. The chances of your organization failing will also be reduced since this research will give ideas about your target clients and employees along with enhancing a deep understanding by your employees your organization’s brand values, mission, and goals. By helping you identify the predicament your company is currently undergoing as well as evaluating your human resources and the best way of using the resources to foster increased productivity and efficiency, this research will enable you establish viable solutions to your challenges. It will also help you know modern ways of doing things, especially with regard to your clients and employees, to meet various workplace demands. Apart from communicating your current and possible customers in better ways, the research will also help you identify threats and opportunities in your organization’s workplace with respect to employees and clients.

From research so far made, I recommend to your organization a development of proper education or retraining approaches for your employees since that can empower them by positively influencing their performance as well as productivity. By creating suitable education and retraining opportunities, business organizations can make sure that they own the upgraded skills, knowledge, competencies, and capabilities to display their creative and innovative side while working for the entity.
