Answer

Heart Disease Case Analysis

Cardiovascular disease is a common condition which is directly associated with lifestyle. I know a close friend, a 28-year-old female, who is at a high risk of heart disease. The lady is at a high risk since she is slightly overweight, has a sedentary lifestyle, and her past medication examinations have also shown that she has high blood cholesterol and pressure. Additionally, the lady’s parents were diagnosed with cardiovascular disease in the past.

To ensure that the lady leads a healthier life to reduce the risk of heart disease, the lady should avoid sedentary lifestyle by engaging in physical activities such as raking house and climbing stairs as well as exercise such as jogging. Having an active lifestyle will aid in expending the extra calories not required by the body (Anspaugh, Hamrick and Rosato 22). It is also advisable that the high risk lady should consume healthy foods, particularly those low in cholesterol. For instance, replacing red meat with white meat can be effective in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Anspaugh, Hamrick and Rosato provides that the most effective way of lowering blood cholesterol is by reducing the general amount of saturated fat consumed (25). Moreover, the lady should consider reducing her blood pressure through the use of medication and exercising. Exercising aids in weight loss which directly cuts on the blood pressure levels. Medication will ensure that the normal blood pressure rate is maintained. Uncontrolled hypertension results to a congestive heart failure as well as hypertrophy.

To conclude, the risk of cardiovascular disease is directly linked to a person’s lifestyle. Some of the common risk factors for the development of heart disease include leading a sedentary lifestyle, having a high blood cholesterol and pressure. Engaging more in physical activities and eating healthier foods can reduce the risk of heart disease development.
