Examples of stoning, amputation, gender differences in criminal procedure, and others are cited. Read the article Lashing, Stoning, Mutilating: Islamic Law is Barbaric and Outdated. Defend the Case of Islam by Abdullah Mohammed (link provided in D2L). Write a few paragraphs in which you summarize a few arguments you find especially compelling in denying that Sharia is not appropriate in modern society. Conclude with your reasoned comments as to whether Islamic law is barbaric and outdated.
Read Constitutional Review and Its Development in the Modern World where you will find a more detailed categorization for judicial review models by Harutyunyan and Mavcic (1999). List the five models (and indicate at least two countries using each model) provided by Harutyunyan and Mavcic. Then, write a few paragraphs that compare and contrast the features of all five models.
