Answer

Leadership Advocacy Strategies in Workplace

A leader can utilize some advocacy strategies such as evaluating the work capacity on the floor to maintain the ratio of nurse-patient within the safety range to to minimize medical inaccuracies and patients care issues, empowering the nurses, and being a practical leader through helping nurses overwhelmed by the tasks. Othe approached  include ensuring that nurses have the necessities to provide patient care, communicating with doctors to ensure patients are assessed and treated before their situation gets worse, and empowering organizational values and beliefs to ensure patient safety and teamwork.

In response to peers, being a proactive nurse in itself is being a leader who is willing to bring about positive changes in the system and its people (Clark, 2018). I am the clinical unit supervisor at the hospital where I work. I have the responsibility to ensure a smooth and safe work environment. This entails looking at the problem from different perspectives, collecting data to support it, using the latest technology to maximize resources, considering everyone’s opinion, and working towards a solution that is acceptable and aims at achieving a common goal. Empowering my team members and coworkers is another way to improve the workplace dynamics. As a result, the response from those I led was a sense of power and confidence. It also boosted the sense of responsibility and accountability in each member. The team showed positive change which resulted in better care and a better work environment.

What I would do differently as a leader would be to employ powerful but easy strategies to engage the nurses (Clark, 2018). I would also take part in shared governance as an advocacy skill to create a positive change in my workplace.  Further, I would be an active player in solving problems by listening to my team members’ concerns and suggesting solutions that are acceptable and beneficial to all.
