Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)- this a US-based government agency which works as part of department of health and human services to support research to assist to improve the quality of healthcare (Brady, Battles & Ricciardi, 2015, p. 1).

Balanced Scorecard- this is a strategic management and planning system which organizations use to communicate what they want to achieve in a specific period of time (Keyes, 2016).

Benchmarking- this is a measurement of the quality of an organization’s products services, and policies in comparison to the standard measures (Keyes, 2016, p. 10).

Capitation- is the payment arrangement for healthcare professional such nurse practitioner, physician assistant, and physicians (Slayter, 2016, p. 11).

Healthcare Disparity- it refers to high burden of injury, mortality, disability, or illness experienced by one community or population in relation to another one (Slayter, 2016, p. 12).

Healthcare-Associated Infections- these are infections that patients acquire while receive ng treatments in the hospitals (Chowdhary, Voss, & Meis, 2016, p. 21).

Just culture- this is a habit where front line operators are not punished for certain errors and omission but gross willful violations and negligence are tolerated (Keyes, 2016, p. 11).

Meaningful use: the use of certified EHR technology in a meaningful manner in order to deliver its purpose (Wani & Malhotra, 2018).

The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators – a national nursing database that offers quarterly and annual reporting of, process, structure, and outcome pointers to assess nursing care (Razmus, & Bergquist-Beringer, 2017).

National Patient Safety Goals- this is a body that promotes specific improvements in patient safety (Gandhi, T. K., Berwick, D. M., & Shojania, 2016).

National Quality Forum –this is nonpartisan and membership-based body which works to catalyze developments in healthcare.

Never Events these are serious medical errors such as wrong site surgery which should never happen to ant patient.

Outcome measure is a result of an experiment or test that is used to quantitatively regulate the standard functions of a patient at the commencement of treatment (Kramer, 2018, p. 12).

Risk Management the process of analyzing, managing and preventing threats that can emerge in hospitals (Kramer, 2018, p. 12).

Root cause analysis (RCA) is a methodical procedure for identifying causes of difficulties or measures and a method for responding to them (Latino, Latino, & Latino, 2016).

Sentinel events are unanticipated actions that result in a patient’s serious psychological or physical injury or death (Rothrock, 2018).

Value-Based Reimbursement-Care aims to advance the triple aim of providing better care for individuals, improving population health management strategies, and reducing healthcare costs (Paulden et al., 2015, p. 5).
