According to the creation story in Genesis, God created man in His image and likeness. By creating humans in His image, this distinguished individual from all the other creations, for only humans is this expression used) While there has been significant amount of discussion of on this subject, the concepts is critical since the God’s image is what makes human humans. This paper describes the various theological models of the image of God and evaluates which model captures the essence of biblical teaching. Examples of these models include the substantive view, the rational view and the functional perspective. The substantive view indicates that the image of God is identified as some definite characteristic or quality within the makeup of the human. According to this theological model, the image of God is an aspect of the human’s physical and bodily makeup. Although this form of perspective has never been widespread, it has persisted even in the current world. The substantive perspective emphasizes that the image of God is physical? On the other hand. the rational theological perspective describes the image of God as something resident within the human nature. According to this perspective, the image of God is described as the experiencing of a relationship. This theological perspective indicates that humans can be in the image or exhibit the image when standing in a particular relationship, which is the image. The rational perspective emphasizes that the image of God is not be understood in terms of any structural qualities within humans. Instead it is something a human is or posses. This perspective advocates that the image of God is a matter of one’s relationship to God. It is something individuals experience therefore; it is dynamic rather than static? Mother perspective used to describe the image of God is the functional view. According to the functional perspective, the image of God is not something present in the makeup of the human or the experiencing of the relationship with God or other humans.” The functional view advocates that the image of God is seen in the actions done by an individual. According to my perspective and understanding, the model that captures the essence of biblical teaching is the rational view. This perspective has correctly been seized on the truth that a human alone, of all creations, discerns and are deliberately related to God. The representations of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden suggest that they customarily empathized together with God. The rational view captures the essence of biblical teaching given that it emphasizes that the driving force of God’s will for humans, concerns affiliation to God and other individuals.
