Consider Lysicott’s position that academic and/or formal English erases students’ individual cultures and ignores the mastery of language that every student already has and answer the above question based on your experience and critical thinking (while maintaining the formal third-person perspective):  I provide the link for two videos down below

    1. The talk is titled, “3 Ways to Speak English,” and here is the link for first video: https://www.ted.com/talks/jamila_lyiscott_3_ways_to_speak_english?language=en
    2. Second Ted Talk from Jamila Lyiscott (a video with sound that is 22 minutes long). This Ted Talk is titled, “Why English Class is Silencing Students of Color” and here is the link (also found on the Home Page of Week One): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4dc1axRwE4

Remember that this is an argument, not an exploratory or informative essay. The basic rule is that your audience is at least as familiar with any text and with history as you are: never summarize. Critical thought means moving beyond the obvious. Be sure you are directly addressing the question of the prompt. This is the work.

A workable thesis must be debatable, researchable, and of some general relevance. You are not required to find outside sources for this essay. (You are required to reference Lyiscott in this paper.)

Answer

The Impact of an Academic/formal Standard in English Classes

According to Lysicott, formal English and overemphasis on academic standards tend to erase the culture and integrity of individual students and further ignores the language mastery that every student already possesses. Critically, regardless of nature, a career one decides to pursue or the cultural values they possess, academic standards must be observed for authenticity reasons. If anyone wants to turn out victorious in the current global market, then he/she must be well positioned to communicate effectively and much clearly. By rigorously adhering to an academic/formal standard in English classes, the students will be enabled to build on their ability to thrive in the market by boosting their writing and critical thinking skills.

Therefore, adhering to the academic standards does not silence those who do not prefer academic language because there is no short cut to learning, the values, and principles of learning or attending to English classes must continually be observed. It is essential for such groups to change their ways of thinking about writing, and the whole content covered in an English class and seek to understand that some rigorous forces must be applied for compliance and regulatory reasons. Students can be hard to handle at times. Basing on Lysicott’s ideology and the message brought on table by the TED talk, learning is, but observing the values and beliefs of diverse groups is imperative. Therefore, it can be concluded that tutors can apply the force they wish provided it does not compromise the wellbeing of other individuals. Otherwise, the strategy to capture student attention and study outcomes is constant.

Learning to write down a formal composition paper is not equated to learning an English dialect. Composition writing was materialized purposely to build on student capacity to write effective academic essays at the university level or make relevance when writing down organizational reports at their career levels. Choosing to adopt a particular dialect is perpetuated by several other environmental factors, other than merely learning to put down an English composition. It is imperative to start viewing composition writing as a process as opposed to a product because one must begin to put the content down on paper before he/she was known what they think regarding a given subject. Therefore, writing is much more on content creation as opposed to learning or switching a given English dialect. It is crucial for students to, therefore, to keep this ideology in mind as they work through an English unit.

Any written composition equates to an argument. In this regard, the evidence does not imply a series of aggressive verbal attacks or humiliation, but a composed language that can be readily used to persuade an individual to learn or adopt a given perspective. This has completely nothing to do with English dialect. For instance, a student may be assigned to compose an essay on how the American culture was influenced or impacted by the Revolutionary War. In this regard, it is possible that one may not have known anything about it, but the response to the question is termed an argument. Arguments have nothing to do with a given English dialect because it runs across all disciplines offered at the school level. Compositions are mainly meant to persuade a given audience that the War changed the American culture by identifying three or more precise reasonshttps://www.cbc.ca/news/business/pipeda-privacy-data-1.4886061
