Answer

Vindication of the Rights of Women

There have been substantive arguments with respect to the rights of women within society. While a good number of contenders have raised concern over this contentious issue, some of them have come up with multifold explanations with regards to the same. This literary research study acknowledges this fact and uses the readily available resource to arrive at the problem statement that is under review.

Vindication of the Rights of Women

This paper takes a review on the assertions brought forth by Mary Wollstonecraft, a central academic piece within the history of the feminist aspects, which hitherto is a paramount understanding of the feminist activism and thoughts over time. The main contemporary issue, in this case, is the imperativeness it brings along as an impeccable intervention within an intellectual field that is depicted as an issue dominated by men.

Wollstonecraft, a renowned scholar, attributes a significant percentage of blame concerning vindication of women’s rights to men, precisely delineating that they had the inherent power in society and to this effect, had an impact on the prevalent situation of women within society. Power, according to Wollstonecraft (2017), is vested both in regard to politics and the subsequent control of monetary aspects, in addition to the fact that men were perceived as the ‘rational’ voice in matters related to public discourse.

A vital and keen concern that is brought forth by the author is education –especially amongst girls and women. She does make strong assertions on the need for equal education regardless of gender and at the same time, incorporates a far-sighted and ambitious proposal for the education system. Education is an integral tool from her point of view, both as a radical theorists and activist of women’s rights and at the same time, as a liberal reformer.

The entire social stratum, as established by Wollstonecraft, has always viewed women as being subordinates, and at the same time, women do themselves little or no favor at all. Most of them are involved in nonsensical mannerisms that devalue their importance and rationality within society. Some of the issues that were brought forth include but not limited to reading insipid and absurd material and try to mimic their lifestyles, treating their children as demigods and not taking full care of them, they do not like when the relationships that they have with their partners lacked the passion that was there before when they were still dating just to mention.

Women, in particular, are deemed to be wretched and weak by many of the concurring delineations, many of which are inadequate parenting, lack of property rights, bad education and interference from the public domain, in addition to the literal cultural traditions that are congruent to the daily lives of the people. The ideology of romantic affiliations that portray women as mere human beings of sentiment and bad novels that reflect unsubstantiated and unwarranted perceptions, as opposed to the intelligence analysis that resonates to it, should be eradicated (Wollstonecraft, 2017).

It should be noted that the assertions that have been delineated are coherent to the issues prevalent within society –basically the liberal individualism that has seen male dominance and social organization over the years. What is apparent is the that women are treated as less equal in all areas of life –culture, work, the law, economics, education, just to mention. The naturalness of women inequality needs to be shunned, especially the narrative that such treatment is socially constructed to shore up the placement of liberal-individualist male.

The attributes of women within society should not only be related to their sexual tenets, a notion that has been infringed amongst women from generation to generation. It can then be deduced, as explained by the author, that with the current characterization of sex, women are just objects of desire that only lasts for as long as their beauty allows them to (Wollstonecraft, 2017). To this effect, there is need for women to step up and shape such tendencies that are deemed to dupe people and instead, challenge their male counter parts to be more respectable to them, rather than suppress them.

Society hails men –their masculinity, success, achievements, fortitude, courage, and so forth. Such sentiments are not only paradox but aimed at degrading and valuing efforts that are made by women because at the end of the day, their actions will be bench-marked against those of their male counterparts. It is okay for men to be modest and chaste and as a result, there is need for the women too to grow within the same spectrum. It is time for women to challenge themselves and rise beyond the scope and bars that have been placed on them and instead strive to be role models and examples to the rest so that this culture is passed from one generation to the other.

In conclusion, it is paramount to take note that the analysis that the author brings forth is based entirely on the critique of the manner in which roles amongst women are socially constructed to deter them from becoming fully autonomous and rational moral persons. There are a number of historic perspectives enshrined within this literary book that are a clear depiction of female education, an issue that can be determined as a universalist approach to social and moral presumptions. According to Wollstonecraft, there is need for men to rally behind this issue and offer women the chance and support to prove themselves as individual persons characterized by the qualities of independent thought and reason. As she elaborates it, it is time for women to effect a revolution and restore their lost dignity by reforming themselves to subsequently make an impact on the world.
