QUESTION

you can pick McDonalds or any restaurant you like

Describe the healthy meal that you have created from the fast food restaurant using the nutritional value of menu items.
Name the restaurant and then write a nutritional analysis of the meal you have created. (Explain all of the nutrients found in the meal, like carbs, protein, fat, and some essential vitamins and minerals.)
Discuss your reaction to the analysis. Make sure to explain why you feel the way you do about this meal. For example, if your meal is composed primarily of fat, discuss that point; if your meal supplies a lot of sugar per serving, discuss that as well. Please also remember to link excess or limited amounts of nutrients with diseases or the potential for disease. (Too much fat may put you at risk for heart disease, not enough calcium may not support bone health, etc.) Please make sure this section is as detailed as possible.
How will this information affect your future food choices? Make sure to explain why you will or will not eat this meal again, and support your answer with the information found in the above sections.

Discuss your reaction to the analysis for each meal; what did you think about each meal? What surprised you with regard to the nutrient levels/amounts? In this section, it is imperative that you compare the nutrient levels to the standard RDA’s and make comments such as “in the unhealthy meal, 40% of the total calories come from fat and considering the diet is only supposed to contain between 20-30% fat for the entire day, this meal is quite unhealthy”. Make sure to do this for both meals.

Answer

  • Nutritional Analysis

MacDonald’s is the fast food restaurant I have selected for the present nutritional analysis to examine the southwest grilled chicken salad. This meal is rich in protein and has 37grams of protein, 11 grams of fat, moderate calories at 350 grams, as well as, moderate cards with 27grams. The meals equally contains vitamins C and A together with fiber, calcium and iron. The meal is rich in protein and therefore suitable for  persons who exercise regurlaly.

    My Reaction to the Analysis

Southwest grilled chicken salad is rich in protein. Normally, I prefer to work out and lift heavy and therefore, this meal will help me repair muscles and allows them to grow. It is also considered a better pre-workout meal because it contains carbs that can be converted into energy thus provide the necessary energy for the workout. Intuitively, the 350 grams of calories are unhealthy when one cannot burn them. However, they are essential when a person is attempting to burn them through exercise. As such, the level of calories all depend on a person takes.

Influence of This Information on Future Food Choices

Ultimately, southwest grilled chicken salad is meal I will order again in the future. Personally, I believe that with proper diet and better healthy physical choices, one will have sufficient time to any kind of southwest grilled chicken salad she or he wants. The risks of getting chronic medical conditions because of poor diet has transformed my perceptions on the kind of meal I intend to consume. In case I fail to take in sufficient meals rich in protein, I risk not getting enough energy for workouts and weight lifting.

    Unhealthy Diet Created

The unhealthy meal I have chosen at MacDonald’s fast food restaurant is the Big Mac. The meal contains 28grams of fat, rich in carbs with 46 grams, moderate protein with 25grams and high content of calories with 540 grams.

    My Reaction to the Analysis

Essentially, I hate Big Mac completely because it is rich in fat and calories. Therefore continuing to consume this meal possibly result in huge weight gain in case I keep on consuming the meal. Moreover, if I continue to consume this meals, I am likely to develop obesity.

How the Information Would Influence Future Food Choices

Essentially, I do not intend to try this meal again in the future because it would interfere with my progress in gym and other workouts. As already discussed, the meal is rich in fat and carbs and therefore, considered unhealthy meal for almost everyone. The only positive thing about this meal is that it contains vegetables but alone cannot provide the energy required for workout and weight lifting. As a matter of fact, I plan to stick to my present meal because with the proper diet, I am likely to get sufficient energy for the workouts. The risks of getting chronic medical conditions because of poor dietary habits has transformed by perceptions on the kind of meal to take. I need to stay healthy and strong by exercising regularly. However, this can only be possible by consuming meals that will provide me with sufficient energy and avoid those rich in fats and calories. For this reason, for my future food choices, I will ensure that every meal I take has adequate protein and less fats.
