Your commercial should take a strong position and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this proposal. The President proposes that all employers be required to offer health insurance or contribute to a public health program. This proposal ensures that all workers will have access to health insurance. It has the potential to make the cost of business too high for some businesses, thus curtailing their competitive edge in a global market.

Answer
Design of a Political Commercial on Healthcare
Introduction
The president’s proposal is long overdue given the number of workers in the private sector without access to quality healthcare services. Most employers complaining about the increased cost of doing business due to providing health insurance to their employees are also not paying their employees well enough. This means that their employees cannot afford to get quality private health insurance because of their low pay. The political ad shall have participants from the healthcare profession as well as the employees, the employers and a government representative for the political class (Contandriopoulos & Bilodeau, 2009). I prefer a television ad as it has more room to communicate a complete a complete message to the public about the new proposal and its benefits to Americans. The use of pictures in the print media might not be adequate enough for the entire advantages and disadvantages of the proposal to be communicated to the target audience, which is the entire working class in America.
Advantages and Disadvantages
The main advantage of this proposal is that all employees in the private sector will have access to quality healthcare coverage as their employers will provide medical cover for them. Some employers might even provide medical cover for their dependants, which would allow their families to benefit from the same quality healthcare services that the employees shall benefit from. Another advantage is that the president’s proposal makes it possible for most Americans to benefit from easy access to universal healthcare by enabling all working citizens to become insured by their employers (Wolf, 2013). The main disadvantage of the president’s proposal is that employers will have to incur the costs of providing health insurance, which might be expensive especially for employees with families or those with chronic diseases. By having employer’s pay the insurance premiums for their employees’ medical cover, the government would be ensuring that the gap min the quality of healthcare received by the poor, middle class and the rich is drastically reduced by ensuring that all workers are insured with good health plans. The proposal is quite disadvantageous to some American businesses such as manufacturers who have to compete with low-cost manufacturers in emerging countries who do not have to pay expensive medical insurance for their employees. This will reduce the global competitiveness of these American firms.
The ad
The ad shall contain an image of an employer putting money into a collection can for employee health insurance. In case the ad is run on TV, it shall feature an employer speaking of the benefits of paying for their employees’ insurance coverage, which improves employee dedication at work and boosts their performance. The employee on the other hand shall narrate all the benefits that arise out of the insurance coverage of the employee and their families, which allows them to get quality healthcare because of the employer’s insurance package. The ad can also feature the employee’s family members describing how they have benefitted from the employee’s insurance cover as part of his immediate dependants (Zevitas, 2010). The ad should also include a medical professional describing the benefits of universal coverage by all employers and how it has enabled employees to seek treatment for illnesses much earlier than before. Given that it is also a political ad, there can be a representative of the government from either house of Congress describing how the new proposal is going to improve universal access to quality healthcare across the whole country. The congressman shall highlight the advantages of the proposal to the workers and the country at large from a political standpoint.
