1. Choose a health risk associated with adolescence. Some categories to consider may include:
• Suicide
• Pregnancy
• Substance use and abuse(This is my choice)
• Motor vehicle crashes
• Tobacco use
• Sexually transmitted disease
• Domestic violence
• Mental health issues
• Sexual identity issues
• Eating disorders
• Nutrition and fitness2. As the health care advocate, you will present the following to the target audience (adolescents or young adults)in 10-15 slides or screens:
• An overview of the risk factor
• Contributing factors
• Prevalence of the health risk (meaningful data)
• Explain your role with the issue as a health care practitioner/advocate
• Ways to identify a problem and address the issue
• Present an activity or project or exercise for the audience to engage in related to the topic
• Help and support resources
3. In your research materials, incorporate 3–4 current sources with one containing the most current statistics.4. Use age-appropriate creativity to ensure the message gets across to the selected audience.
As you plan your seminar, consider:
• How will you initiate a conversation (rather than give a lecture)?
• How will you keep the attention and respect of this audience?
5. Use APA for citing and referencing your sources.
6. Keep your design and audio appropriate to the audience, yet professional. Your presentation must include both audio and visual components and be professional in nature.

Use of visual aids/images is appropriate. Slides are easy to read, interesting, and relevant to the content. All main ideas are presented succinctly. Contains the required number of slides.

- Adolescence is the period which begins by hormonal, biological, and physical changes of puberty and ends when one attains independent and stable roles in the society (Bachman et al., 2016).
- During this period, one is vulnerable to engaging in risky activities.
- One of such activities is substance use and abuse.
- Substance use and abuse is the use of drugs in which the user take the substance in quantities or with means that are injurious to themselves and others (Mayes et al., 2017).

- Drugs that are associated with substance abuse include: alcohol, cannabis, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, methaqualone, substituted amphetamines, and opioids.
- These drugs have serious effects on teenagers such as:
- Emotional problems which are anxiety disorders, depression and mood swings.
- Behavioral problems which include violence, suicidal thoughts, and theft (Mayes et al.,, 2017)
- Exposure to diseases such cancer to those who are smoking and other heart related diseases
- Learning problems where they cannot concentrate in a class as a result of effects of those drugs.
