Answer
Assignment 2: Project Levels of Usage and Meaning
After examining my speech over the last two days, I have realized that I use different levels of word choices depending on the audience as well as the occasion. One of the word levels I employ is formal approach. I apply a formal approach when completing some class assignments. The reason behind formal approach word level is because some of the assignments are judged based on the appropriateness of the speech habits which does not provide any room to err. However, when I am talking with or to my family members, I use mixed levels of word choices which involve intermix of literary terms with colloquialism as well as slang. The use of the mixed approach is informed by the need to ensure that I make literary and colloquial diction to achieve both precisions. As a result, I present variegated speech which is interesting to my audience (parents and siblings).
Apart from the formal and the mixed approaches of usage, I also deploy the idiolects to communicate with my friends and peers in school. In specific, I use the language habits which could only be understood by my friends. The language features that I use are only shared by my friends and cannot not be understood by other communities (groups). In this case, I use our favorite words as well as ways of phrasing sentences which are only appropriate to them. I structure my sentences in certain ways which is only understandable and appropriate to those groups of friends. In this case, the word choices are those that my parents, relatives, and some elderly people cannot comprehend.
