Some students often ask for clarification on the Strategic Planning assignment this week. Please note that you do not need to add anything to the strategic plan that was given. What you are doing is, you have this strategic plan for the HIM Department (the one that was given to you in the assignment) and you need to make a plan to communicate it to your staff and give a timeline for when things will be done, and what committees will be needed. Note that the plan is for COMMUNICATING the strategic plan to your staff, not for DOING the strategic plan. So think about what is the best way to communicate this plan to your HIM staff? As for the timeline, your timeline does not have to be extremely detailed, it can be a general timeline, as I do not expect you to know every little detail about everything presented on the strategic plan. How you create the document that is the plan that you will communicate to your staff is up to you, it can be a Word document or Excel or combination or however you want it. The only thing you need the Strategic Plan spreadsheet for is information on what is in the strategic plan so you know what you are communicating, and the stakeholders help you to know about committee information. Plan Communication
A plan for communicating the Strategic Plan to my Staff
- I will first of all list the main issues addressed during the strategic planning process since this will fully help those involved in it to prepare in advance
- I will then draft a plan on adoption of the strategic plan which might take a few a few months through setting of a board meeting on a specific date for adopting the set plan
- This will be followed by setting aside some time to allow all those involved in strategic planning to agree on a specific time for implementing the actual plan. This allows the plan writer to take adequate time to compile all decisions made and avoid stretching out for a longer period of time
- I will then make all stakeholders aware of their duties, to facilitate faster involvement in the organization’s regular routines and assigned tasks.
- Decision making on whether the assigned roles are fit for them, and the actual expectations of them during strategic planning process
- Lastly, I will locate a favorable place where all the meetings are to occur, preferably not the standardized local meeting point when carrying out all other organizational schedules. This gives stakeholders a chance to step out of their obvious operational patterns.

It also recommends system enhancement for centering on all workflow systems and business procedures within the organization. The committee monitors available organizational and human resources, management of records in planning, financial systems, legal compliance and key programming. They facilitate establishment of realistic and attainable targets especially during the initial planning stages for project designation. As a HIM director, I will ensure that all guidelines within respective facilities and departments are adhered to through managing of systems to enhance evaluation, improvement and reporting of all departmental responsibilities. I will also assess employee compliance, adherence and implementation of all programs set for improvement. I will ensure strict reporting of key indicators in performance on a daily basis, to enhance strict following of routine during implementation process of the strategic plan, which is a request made by local administrative leaders. Finally, I will also aid in investigation and reception of any violations made to the overall Compliance Officer.
It will be very valuable to include staff members since they contain expertise data for tapping during strategic planning. They also represent all organizational levels basing on the fact that they plan on daily activities within the organization. They must therefore be informed and updated on the extent of operation within the firm.
