Answer
Personal Strength and Weakness in Professional Presentations
My strength in professional presentation exists in the use of gestures and body language. On the other hand, my weakness is associated with having a feeling of little nervousness when presentations. I am good is employing my body language or gestures such as facial expression, voice, eye contact, body posture and movement among others in communicating to my audience. I can improve my body language by enrolling for a short course on enhancing self-awareness of my body signs. When it comes to addressing the problem of nervousness, I can improve by engaging in constant practice in my free time including making informal presentations to my friends or family members.
Improving my areas of strength as well as weakness will positively impact my performance or effectiveness in delivering professional presentations within a more formal environment or setting in different ways. Enhancing my strength in the use of body language and gesture will greatly portray my passion for the subject or topic of presentation to the audience. According to Ledden (2017), gestures often become livelier when individuals are passionate about their subject. As such, effective use of gestures such as hand gesture will reveal to my audience that I care about the presentation subject and that I am an effective communicator. As a result, I will manage to keep my audience glued to my presentation. Besides, improving my strength in making eye contact will positively impact my presentation in a formal environment. Ledden (2017) asserts that positive eye contact enables the presenter to establish rapport with his or her audience and keep them engaged with the presentation. Moreover, by improving my eye contact with the audience will manage to give them a sense of connection or involvement and convey my message or idea on a person level.
Addressing the problem of nervousness will boost my confidence, which in turn will enable me to speak of communicate with clarity, as argued by Ledden (2017). Being focused and calm will also enable me to manage my thoughts better when delivering my presentation in a more formal setting. In addition, developing confidence will enable to speak slowly so that my audience can comprehend the topic of presentation. The sense of calmness and confidence will also enable me to respond to the questions presented by my audience in a professional manner.
