How the Impeachment of President Donald Trump Changed My Worldview

           The courage to impeach one of the most powerful people in the world – the president of the United States of America – is beyond a question of personal or parochial interest. The precedent impeachment of President Donald Trump than occurred in 2019 is the third impeachment in the history of America. Trump’s impeachment happened after Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were impeached in 1868 and 1998, respectively (Roos, 2019). This essay, therefore, describes the occurrence of president Donald Trump’s impeachment. Moreover, it elucidates how it changed my worldview.

           The process that later led to the impeachment incident began when the Democratic Party unsuccessfully initiated it. The party claimed that Donald Trump colluded with the Russian government to rig himself in with the United States of America’s presidential election (Lindsay, 2019). However, the claims or allegation were thrown into a ditch when the Mueller Report proved otherwise. The report neither authenticated the charges nor established the electoral collusion (Lindsay, 2019). However, it unequivocally and aptly declined to vindicate the president of the hindrance of justice. Therefore, the probe to impeach the president was thwarted by the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.

           The impeachment event then rose to the House due to the president – alleged – misuse of office. An anonymous tattletale accused President Donald Trump of using his office’s power – the office of the president of the United States of America – to coerce Ukraine into an investigation of his political opponent, Joe Biden, and his son (Lindsay, 2019). This made the speaker of the House initiate a formal impeachment probe on the 24th of September 2019 (Lindsay, 2019). The following day, the White House released a transcript of Trump’s call conversation with the Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky. The move was deemed by the president as perfect, while the Democratic party considered it as a confirmation of the allegations. Consequently, despite the white House terming the impeachment as illegitimate proceeding, the House went ahead and passed the two impeachment articles which were forwarded to the Senate.

           Notably, most Americans, specifically the Democratic Party members, and the independent American citizens, celebrated the impeachment victory at the House. It made people all over the world to believe in democracy again. Moreover, notwithstanding the political inclinations, democracy was subjected to test and emerged victorious in the House.

                      In conclusion, the courage to impeach one of the most powerful people in the world – the president of the United States of America – is beyond a question of personal or parochial interest. Consequently, the process stood the test of time to prove that in the world, we only need a courageous individual to seek justice. The allegation might fail to agree with the facts. However, the impeachment event of the most powerful man on each made me change my worldview as a place where democracy is crucial and important. Additionally, it shows that in the world, how, however, how small one is – whether politically or physically, your voice can still be heard. Moreover, the event makes view the world as democratic and just, unlike before.
