Anthem: A Dialogue

Equality 7-2521: Alas! We found something interesting. Come see this brother, the council must not know about it.

International 4-8818: You are not our brother. (sees the whole that leads to an unknown tunnel). No, do not go there! It is probably forbidden.

Equality 7-2521: What do you mean forbidden? We will go down there, no one knows about the tunnel that we have found. How can the council forbid something that they do not know about? We will go, we have found it!

International 4-8818: The council does not know about it. They have not allowed it. Therefore, it is forbidden. The tunnel must have been built by people from the Unmentionable Times and is therefore evil.

Equality 7-2521: We will go and find out. (Goes into the tunnel for a while and reemerges later with a smile). Promise me you will never tell anyone. (out of loyalty, International 4-8818 agrees but is upset with the idea).

(Equality 7-2521 spends a lot of time in the tunnel and discovers the lightbulb. He decides to take the knowledge to the Council)

Equality 7-2521: Eureka! We have found the power of the sky that was harnessed by the people of the Unmentionable Time. I will take the knowledge to the Council and they will forgive us for our sins.

International 4-8818: This is forbidden! It is a knowledge not known by all of us and is therefore not true. The council will reject it. I have also noted that you spend a lot of your time at the tunnel, it is wrong to be alone the way you are.

Equality 7-2521: (in jest) Do not be cynical, we find pleasure in being alone. We learn, we know things. We have even seen our own strength. It is phenomenal. (Equality 7-2521 is caught leaving the tunnel late and is taken to a correctional facility. He runs and go to the council and his idea rejected. He decides to run away).

Equality 7-2521: You was right, they thinks it is wrong to have our own discovery. Because they do not know, they do not want it. We will run away to freedom.

International 4-8818: We told you! It is forbidden. Where are you going?

Equality 7-2521: We will go to the forest where no one will follow us. We will be free. You shall see. We will be alone.

International 4-8818: Do not go, there is hope. You can be our brother and you can be forgiven. Do not go.

Equality 7-2521: We have no place here, we want to be free. We have to go. We need to run before they come for us.

(Equality 7-2521 runs to the forest and is followed by the “Golden One”)
