In any business, a leader has particular power and influence. Power and influence is not all about intimidation, threats and ultimatums. On the contrary, it is about understanding that the ones being led need motivation, challenges and most importantly a good example by the leader in order to succeed (Hai et al., 2020). The leader with power and influence then has to make use of these tools provide good direction, give needed resources, support the relevant causes and improve the human resource capability of the workers to perform their tasks with the least possible strain.

This leader can utilize their power and influence to improve the capacity of the workers through organized trainings, motivate them well through democratic decision-making, invclusivity and good pay. This leader always strives to ensure that there is no single employee that is exploited for whichever reason. This means that they use their power to shield junior or new employees from needless harassment and bullying by other members of staff. This role of security is vital in this regard.

A good leader demonstrates particular traits that end up inspiring others within the business organization. Inspiration comes from visionary leaders. Those with a vision always know the direction the business organization has to take, and they consistently find ways of inspiring others to own these visions (Apps, 2021). Such organize consistent actions that are in line with the clear vision. Just leaders are also inspirational. Once the juniors know that the leader will treat them fairly and shield them from needless discrimination, then they will work to ensure that they meet the needed standards. Leaders who inspire others also set a good example. Theirs is not simply empty talk. They put their mouth where their money is and end up setting excellent examples for others to emulate. They then do not have to talk all the time—their actions speak for them.

Effective leadership requires the presence of various leadership traits. The first one is fairness. The ability to see all as equal and treat them so is often underrated. However, an effective leader understands that when all feel that they have a level playing field in terms of promotions, pay and other benefits, then they will be inclined to do better (Olarenwaju & Okorie, 2019). Passion is the other trait that is vital in this regard. No one wants to be led by a lackluster individual who is laid back and never willing to move out of their comfort zones. The effective leader will challenge their employees to venture in new, challenging areas. They will motivate them when they do well and prepare them for newer challenges.
