The book, the quest by Dr. Todd Wood brings a different approach to young age creationism books from others in this genre. It has a frank discussion of the challenges that face the young earth movement. The author was not hesitant to admit that the odds were placed against the success of the movement and he adds on by laying out the biggest challenges that face the next generation of young earth creationists. He goes on to challenge the reader by making them feel that the task may be difficult but is definitely worth taking. This paper seeks to explain the strongest argument presented by the author as well as the most difficult problem facing young earth creation.

            Throughout the book, the author does not fail to mention that God is the sole creator of the earth and the dating mechanisms used to estimate the age of rocks are not very accurate. This is normal, according to him for fluctuation is to be expected around a mean in science. Rocks dated with multiple methods usually yield very consistent dates. Radiometric dating shows us which rocks are older and which are younger (Todd 2018). The decay rates were much higher than they are now. There however is a mistake commonly made by archaeologists in their hypothesis that still needs to be solved. The author subscribes to a plain account in the bible from Genesis 1-11. The chapters mean exactly as they are portrayed and that is how they are interpreted in the book where he bases all his scientific work.

            The Young earth creation has been faced with several obstacles and the author mentioned them in his book, however, there seems to be one that stood out more than the rest. Scientific investigations have been discovering over the past couple hundred years and several people have been strayed into seeing the weaknesses in the IDM books which were published by evangelical publishers that focused efforts in omitting the information to exploit the weaknesses of the IDM. The author of this book, therefore, encourages his readers to confront each brick wall and use it as an opportunity to find a way to find a ladder or a tunnel that will take them through it and even as we are confronted with a mass of a huge brick wall, we ought to carefully consider whether we are on the right track.

            In conclusion, Dr. Todd Wood brought up a strong argument on the young earth creation theory that should not be dismissed. It is quite easy to notice that the book, ‘The quest’ provides little guidance on how to properly determine when one is wrong because it only talks about being humble and admitting when you are wrong. How can someone know and have enough to base a proper argument on the topic because there will always be one more tunnel you can dig or one more ladder you can throw up.
