Answer

Japan’s Art and Cultural Development

Most countries have developed through the influence of other nations, hence do not grow in isolation. Japan is an example of a nations that developed its art and culture under other countries’ influence. Among the countries that contributed to Japan’s growth are Korea and China. The two countries played a significant role in Japan’s complex development by influencing its artistic and cultural development that shaped its reputation to date.

Culture is defined as people’s way of leading their daily lives. Through its complex cultural development, China happens to be one of the many first significant civilizations. Although Japan had its local culture and philosophies, they tried to imitate most of China’s culture to improve and develop their slowly growing culture and art industry. Buddhism is said to have influenced Japan from China and Korea’s complex cultures, thus improving Japan’s reputation as a steadily rising civilized nation (Cartwright, 2017). Some of Japan’s eating habits and style of conducting ceremonies might have been borrowed from the neighboring nations, precisely from China.

Most artists prefer to integrate their works with a supplement of style borrowed from other nations. Japan borrowed a lot from Korean and Chinese artists to reference their future artistic work. Different professions took what they could from the experienced professionals to reference in their works. Musicians paid experienced teachers for lessons, while scholars found well-known religious masters, particularly monks, to study (Cartwright, 2017). With a touch of Korea’s and China’s artwork, Japan integrated and improved its dances and buildings. However, China was the most significant contributor to Japan’s growth since Korea acted as a conduit to China’s influence on Japan. From the learned arts, different professions improved their services and the quality of goods they offered.

To conclude, Japan learned and borrowed a lot from Korea and China’s influence that contributed to its fast growth and development in culture and artwork. The excellent relationship Japan had with Korea and China contributed to its cultural and artistic advancement. Compared to Korea, China contributed a lot in developing Japan’s culture and art as Korea played the role of a conduit.
