Coca-Cola is one of the largest companies around the globe. Incorporated in 1892, the company has grown to have a presence in almost all the countries in the world. Coca-Cola managed to achieve its current massive growth through the following methods; first, creating a unique product that has been difficult to imitate over the years. Coca-Cola’s secret recipe is one of the factors that has led to the company’s massive growth. The company’s products have a unique taste that its competitors, such as Pepsi, have not managed to match or imitate.
Secondly, the company leveraged globalization’s power to expand its operations across the globe (Globalization & The Coca-Cola Company, 2009). With globalization, the company offered franchises to various distributors tasked with bottling and selling the products to various markets worldwide. The business model ensures that the company’s products reach even the smallest villages around the world, a factor that significantly improved its brand recognition.
After achieving its massive growth, the company leveraged the use of various marketing strategies to remain at the top. First, it has used product differentiation to meet the different needs of its customers in the market. The company has over 2,800 products that meet the needs of various customers all over the world. Apart from differentiation, the company’s aggressive marketing strategy with consistent messaging tailored for its customers in different sections of the world has also helped the company stay ahead of its competitors such as Pepsi in the market (Abbasi, 2017).
In conclusion, Coca-Cola leveraged the use of globalization and a unique product to fuel its growth from its headquarters in Atlanta to all the continents in the world. After achieving its massive growth, the company leveraged the use of marketing strategies to maintain its success and stay ahead of its competitors.
