Answer
The American History
I often ask myself if the American Revolution was in the minds of Sherman and Grant in 1863. Thinking about the effects of their campaigns in American history, I now know that history repeats itself. The close link between the American Revolution of the 1700s and the American Civil War of the 1800s tells a lot about the history of America.
Between 1775and 1783, America experienced high tensions that arose between the residents of Great Britain’s 13 North American colonies and the colonial government. The chaos experienced between the colonial military men and the British troops marked the beginning of armed conflicts in April 1775 (Ward, 2016). Shortly after summer, the colonial rebels started wars to seek their independence. Various countries such as France entered the American Revolution, turning the revolution into international conflicts. The association between the American Revolution and the Civil War was seen even before the first shots were fired. The American Revolution just occurred five months before the Civil Wars began. There was an ancestral and ideological connection between the two conflicts that occurred in different timelines.
In 1776, the American patriots glorified and justified the resistance of the South. Later in the 1860s, the conflict between the United States and the Confederate States of America began (Fitz‐Gerald, 2000). Here, the conflict was fueled by a long-term disagreement in the institutions of slavery. The Civil War that occurred in 1860 and 1861 reflected about the occurrences of the 1700s. Nonetheless, slavery was a significant issue during the American Revolution; the same was a problem during the American Civil Wars. Recently, America has been experiencing a great revolution dubbed "Black Lives Matter" This is a true reflection of all that occurred in the 1700s and 1800s.
In short, short, from the happenings in the 1700s, 1800s till today, America has been a revolutionary country where people fight for their rights. 1700s and 1800s experienced were revolutionary. The revolution is still happening today. Indeed, history repeats itself.
