The members of the United Nations found great value in the analysis you provided on the effects of global warming that result from population growth. They are now asking you write an additional analysis to include further issues related to population growth. Here is the issue they have asked you to consider:
The member states of the United Nations seek to build food systems that can provide global food security which will feed everyone, everywhere, every day by improving food quality though the promotion of effective and nutritional agricultural practices. The crucial issue is not the lack of food in the world but the access to that food. In many developing countries, food shortages are due to governmental control over food distribution. These governments maintain control of the population and their power by limiting access to nutritious food to certain groups. In this practice, they thereby “weaponize” food.
Your second project as a consultant for the United Nations is to develop an analysis that addresses three issues related to global food insecurity caused by global population growth and poverty, and to explore these issues in a developing country of your choosing.
The U.N. has given you the following guidelines:
The U.N. has asked that your paper contain three sections. Each section should be one page (or approximately 300 words) in length and answer specific questions, identified in the outline below. It also asks that you use examples from your developing country when answering the questions.
Provide an introduction of half a page minimum that addresses points 1–5 below:

Analysis on Food Security
Food insecurity refers to the disruption in the food intake patterns among the members of the community because of lack of money or other vital resources. This paper will explore the case of food insecurity in Rwanda. Three primary sections will be addressed in the assignment such as the background information, technology with a potential of alleviating hunger and improving on food security, and the fundamental facts suggesting the existence of food security in Rwanda. Increased poverty, poor farming activities, growth in population and drought are the fundamental aspects which have contributed to food insecurity (Pawlak & Kołodziejczak, 2020). Investing in precision farming technology will boost the food production at a lower cost, thus addressing the case of food insecurity.
Section 1: Background
Food insecurity is a complex situation referring to a reliable access of food. The situation is experienced in the events whereby the access to food is uncertain if not restricted (Godrich, Davies Darby & Devine, 2017). This results to a situation whereby societal and personal costs are experienced as reduced through a declining mental, physical, social and spiritual wellbeing of the people (Godrich et al., 2017). Population growth worsens the case of food security. Evidently, the rise in population suggests that there will be more mouths to feed. This depletes the food reserves resulting to severe instances of food insecurity (Imasiku & Ntagwirumugara, 2020).
Section II: Technologies That Can Reduce Hunger and Improve Food Security
Precision farming technology can be utilized to promote food security and to reduce instances of hunger. This technology has the goal of providing a decision support system which can be implemented in management of the whole firm with a fundamental goal of returns optimization while ensuring that resources are preserved (Balogh et al., 2020). Therefore, it is evident that the technology would address the instance of food insecurity by increasing the food production rates, thus addressing the instance of insecurity. The precision farming technology will address poor farming activities as a cause for food insecurity.
Section III: Specific Factors in Rwanda
Poverty is the fundamental factor which causes food insecurity in Rwanda. According to World Vision Australia, (2014), the Rwandese farmers have limited plot of land estimated to 26% of the farms allocated to the households. Additionally, the farms are located on steep slopes as well as defined by poor fertility which discourages the farming efforts. This has caused food insecurity in the region by making it difficult for the farmers to offer an access of sufficient foods to the members of the community. In the events where the households’ stock runs dry, they find it difficult to access food in the market since they are discouraged by the high food prices (World Vision Australia, 2014).
Conclusively, food insecurity arises because of poverty, poor agricultural activities and population growth among other. The case of food insecurity can be addressed by investing in fundamental resources such as precision farming which will boost food productivity at a low cost. Areas such as Rwanda have been affected by food insecurity cases due to the high poverty rates. This makes it difficult for the members of the household to access foods from the market when their food storages run dry. Arguably, the cost of food is significantly on the higher side for them to afford.
