  1. Applying and Sharing Evidence

    QUESTION

Application and implications for practice come from the interpretation of meaning from research findings. Communicating and using research evidence is an expectation of a BSN graduate.

Select and describe one of the conclusions from the required article from the Week 6 assignment that you found interesting and applicable to practice. Describe how you would apply the evidence to improve nursing practice. Explain your answer.
Discuss ways you would disseminate research-based evidence; how would you share with your peers? Include your thoughts on why it is important for you to be involved in communicating and applying nursing research evidence

Answer

Application and Implication for Practice

The nursing profession serves to protect and preserve patients outcomes. Healthcare delivery presents immense pressure for nurses to perform at the highest level so that they can improve their patient’s health. The complexity of the nurse’s duties has increased as there is a need for the nurse to control costs. This duty increases the nurses’ pressure in their working environment. A prolonged pressure in the nursing duties can potentially lead to anxiety (Maguire et al., 2020). As a result, the prolonged anxiety can lead to illness and impact the performance of the nurse. The nurse’s anxiety can extensively affect the professional ability to provide quality services for the patient.

Improving the nursing practice is critical in healthcare institutions. According to Maguire et al. (2020), nursing anxiety can be improved by encouraging the utilization of coloring mandalas during nurses break. This increases the professional’s Heart Rate Varibility (HRV) and reduces the short term state anxiety (Maguire et al., 2020). In this perspective, I would encourage the nurses to take short work break to participate in coloring mandalas. The aim for the colouring of mandala is to reduce the nurses anxiety. This will also provide a calming environment and give the nurse an opportunity to recuperate from intense work environment (Maguire et al., 2020).

Communication is paramount when disseminating research-based evidence. In this case, I can hold nurses team meetings to communicate to the professional on the importance of encouraging the use of mandala during work breaks. My participation in the meeting is important since I can articulate the importance of this research and motivate the nurses to apply the research evidence in their daily endeavors.
