    • Academic and Professional Resources or Strategies to be Applied in MSN Program

      It goes without saying that access to proper and relevant educational materials is important not only to pass the exams and certain stages of education, but also provides expertise to offer quality care services that is important for every  nurse. Getting well qualified nurses for a proper healthcare system is essential towards getting quality services.  To get qualified nurses, proper education and training accompanied by quality academic and professional resources is critical. This section outlines the essential academic and professional resources or strategies that I will apply to ensure success in my nursing practice.

      1. Academic Resources/ Strategies
      1. Academic Tutor

      This being an online program, I intend to take advantage of the excellent internet and other tutorial facilities offered by Walden University. Tutors offer significant academic assistance that can help in developing a clear career path. My strategy will be to reach out to a tutor as soon as possible whenever I have any class issue. I always feel encouraged and comfortable seeking advice on how to approach academic issues and find as adequate information as possible. I prefer face-to-face interactions with my tutor as this will help achieve my academic goals effectively.

      1. Local Library

      The library has adequate resources for both professional and academic development.  Using the local library will allow me to get access to various resources such as books, newspapers, and other academic contents that will aid me in successfully finish my graduate studies. Strategically, I will work during the day and visit the library in the evening at around 4 pm to obtain academic resources for my studies. Further, I will plan my weekly journey effectively, for example, I will get the materials to be used in the following week on Fridays. Once picked, I will get to quiet rooms at home, study, and complete my assignments. Adequate academic resources are available in the local libraries around my home. 

      1. Online Resources

      There are various online academic articles such as research papers, articles, books, journals, and magazines. Reading these will equip me with adequate theoretical information about nursing as a practice. I will access these resources via phone or personal computer.

      1. Professional Nursing Resources
      1. Evidence-based Practice Network

      An evidence-based practice network is essential in nursing practice. It provides content and tools that guide nurses towards success.  Evidence-based practice network provides nurses with practical information on how to handle various conditions while in practice (Li-Yin, 2015). Besides, an evidence-based practice network guides nurses on the essence of offering quality services to patients. As a professional, I will adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines in all my decisions and actions. Further, I will use evidence-based practice to promote and support the synthesis and transfer of evidence-based practice information to health care professionals to support clinical decision-making.

      1. Professional Ethics

      Ethics are essential tools in nursing practice. All nurses must work according to professional ethics. For example, nurses are expected to respect the patients, maintain confidentiality, and respect human dignity and rights (Bindon, 2017). It is also important for nurses to create a favorable work environment of respect and trust between them and patients. In my case, I will obey nursing ethics and standards, including respecting patients to the core, maintaining confidentiality, and respecting the patients (Epstein and Turner, 2015). I will also use ethics as a resource to guard the privacy of patients, listen to their concerns, and offer services in a way that addresses their medical requirements.

      1. Communication

      Communication is an important resource in nursing practice. As a professional nurse, I will employ a proper communication strategy accompanied by listening skills to address patients' needs (Farghaly et al., 2019). To ensure that everything runs smoothly, I will speak at the right time and address the right content to the right people. This way, I will ensure that communication is clear, timely, and well-intended. 

                  In conclusion, getting professional and academic resources is important in training of nurses in their MSN program and in practice. The global healthcare system has reached a critical period where lack of well qualified nurses is a major cause to the problem. Nonetheless, the provision of qualified nurses begins with proper academic and professional training. This can only be achieved if nursing students and professionals use appropriate resources and educational strategies. As such, by employing the above discussed academic/ professional resources, I am certain that I will be of  great importance not only to the school but also to the whole healthcare fraternity since I shall have the expertise to provide quality care.
