Capstone Change Project Evaluation Plan
Change project proposes maintaining and observing hygiene standards as a way of reducing, preventing and controlling the spread of infections. Upon implementation, the outcome of the project should be evaluated. First of all, it should be determined whether the hospital has sufficient resources, monitoring systems, and consumables to support smooth implementation of the project. Resources in this case include adequate and properly positioned hand washing sinks and running water (Atif, Lorcy, & Dube, 2019). The second stage of the evaluation process is to assess whether healthcare providers have necessary knowledge and skills about the importance of hand hygiene in infection control and prevention. Lastly, but not the least, the actual outcomes of the intervention should be evaluated. The number of hospital-acquired infections during the study period compared to prior to implementation of the project should be compared. Besides, the rate of antibiotic administration due to hospital-acquired infections needs to be compared. It is also important to compare the average length of hospitalization and cost of care during the study period versus the previous period (Hillier, 2020; Wiedenmayer et al., 2020).
