discussion based on chapter 1
After reading Ch. 1: Audiences and Critics please participate in the following discussion.
The secret to writing good criticism is maintaining a descriptive tone in the writing as it speaks to what happened on stage rather than making the assumptions of what was intended, as is the case in a more prescriptive tone. For this week’s discussion board assignment, I want you to adopt a descriptive tone as you answer the following question:
Tell us about your favorite production in the visual arts.
Some things to consider:
What form of media are we discussing here? Stage? Film? Etc.?
Why is it your favorite?
What are the moments that make it so meaningful to you?
Would you recommend it to others? Which others?

Chapter 1 Discussion: My Favorite Production in The Visual Arts
Art exists in the form of visual, literary, or performing arts. Chapter 1 has provided an extensive discussion of the definition of art, the various characteristic of art, types of art, and the criticisms which have been directed towards the different arts. From the multiple types of visual arts discussed, my favorite production is theatre. Notably, the theatre consists of the performers, director, audience, text, and the theatre space (Wilson and Goldfarb 29). I am fascinated by the theater stage media, which involves the performers showing the artistic skills in front of the audience. Such visual art is my favorite because of the manner in which it allows the viewers to participate. Notably, apart from the obvious signals of the audience such as laughter, silence, and tension, the power of imagination enables the audience to enter into an imaginary world and forget who as well as where they are (Wilson and Goldfarb 34).
One of the moments which makes theatre especially the theater stage meaningful to me is when I forget about my current problems and immersive myself into imagining about the various acts being performed. Additionally, the tension which comes with the theatre performances enables me to experience art as opposed to watching a film on a TV. I would gladly recommend theatre production as a form of visual art because of how it provides live coverage of actions to the audience. By participating in theater as an audience, people of all ages will be immersed in an imaginary world and momentarily forget about their troubles. Most importantly, they will be entertained through various performances in the live theater.
