The 3 Act Structure
The three-act structure is composed of the Setup, Confrontation and Resolution within a fiction narrative, focused on dividing the story into three parts (Yuan & Chiu, 2016). The confrontation is considered as an effective part of the structure which contributes towards the general success of the fictional story. The confrontation is important because it relays the rising action which includes the incidents that will transpire after the point of no return before the story’s midpoint is attained.
The incidents presented under the confrontation are effective in promoting the success of the story by building tension, further raising the stakes desirable in revealing more information about the characters. Moreover, the confrontation promotes the success of the story by creating suspense within the narrative. The midpoint part of the confrontation enhances the success of the story by establishing a transformation from reaction to action which ensure that the audience remains focused on the narrative (Yuan & Chiu, 2016).
According to Yuan and Chiu (2016), confrontations enhance the success of the story by creating an emotional payoff for the prevailing Conflicts within the narrative. The fact that the confrontation fosters the development of an intense emotion among the readers means that learning more about the behavior of the characters while in a confrontational scene will be facilitated. Additionally, confrontations also foster the success of the narrative story by fostering a great form of dialogue among the characters (Yuan & Chiu, 2016). Notably, confrontations will comprise conversations which eliminate the element of confusion, thus making it simpler to understand the storyline better.
