Communication Strategies
Question 1
Reflecting on my area of study and job-associated tasks in my current and future career, there are various sources and types of information that I will locate, access, retrieve and use. According to Buzzetto-Hollywood et al. (2018), information can emerge from virtually everywhere, including blogs, media, individual experience, journals, publications and magazine editorials, professional evaluations, compilations, and web pages (Solomon, Wilson & Taylor, 2011). The type of information I will require or use will alter depending on the concern I will be attempting to address. However, the following are the primary sources of information that I will significantly utilize.
Books
Books cover practically every subject, reality, or invention. For research reasons, I will seemingly be searching for volumes that integrate all the knowledge on a single subject to establish a significant thesis or reasoning.
Internet
The internet enables me to access various forms of information through browsing. One of the web’s primary elements is connecting to other related data swiftly. According to Buzzetto-Hollywood et al. (2018), the Web incorporates knowledge exceeding plain text, given that it features sounds, video, and pictures.
Library Catalog
A library program is an orderly and searchable compilation of every item’s accounts in a library and can be located on the library homepage. The catalog will direct me to the area of a significant reference, or group of specialists, that the library reserves on my thesis.
Question 2
In these modern days, organizations have access to various communication approaches that can be utilized with internal and external audiences (Buzzetto-Hollywood et al., 2018). The primary methods of communicating information I will use in my new workplace will include hosting traditional meetings, video conferencing, and social media. In terms of verbal communication, I will use stories and significant conversations. Regarding written communication, I will use email and social media platforms. Lastly, I will use visual communication where necessary.
Question 3
As the new manager of the organization, I would like my employees to possess information literacy skills such as enhanced communication, have the ability to identify, assess, organize, utilize information in all its several aspects, most significantly in the circumstances necessitating decision making, problem-solving, and retrieval of information (Ahmad, Widen & Huvila, 2020). Furthermore, I would like the employees to combine research abilities, critical reasoning abilities, computer technology experiences, and enhanced presentation experiences. Information literacy skills are crucial for educational achievements, productive operations in the workplace, and community engagement as knowledgeable netizens.
If my employees are information illiterate, this presents various challenges. For instance, the staff will fail to develop and implement effective research approaches using an extensive range of search tools. Moreover, the employees will fail to interpret outcomes accurately and recognize authoritative information pertinent to the topic. Employees who are information illiterate often encounter difficulty assessing the significance, quality, authoritativeness, and credibility of information retrieved (Ahmad et al., 2020). Lastly, these employees will fail to access and utilize information legally and ethically.
