Answer
Part One
Community developments are long-term value-based processes that aim to address imbalances in power and bring change that is based on equality, social justice, and inclusion (Quimbo et al., 2018; Nel, 2018). There are several community development approaches that have been highlighted in Big hArt model. They include community engagements, asset-based community development, community capacity building, and sustainable developments. However, the key approach that is missing is women self-help group. One of the important societal issues is gender equality and most community development projects focus on how women can be elevated so that gender inequality can be completely eradicated (Swanger, 2016; Hills et al., 2015).
Social capital has been evidenced in Big hArt model in several ways. Particularly, there is Neo-learning project where people learn about the aboriginal so that other cultures and individuals can understand them to have a cohesive society. Another evidence of social capital is New Roebourne that comprises of workshops and other programs that are meant to build the community. However, a research center that is aimed at looking at what affects the society and how such problems should be solved is missing.
One of the most important factor of the community is health. As a health professional I would organize a team of health professionals who conduct surveys and research about health issues that affect the rural areas and use the report to reach national health authorities to provide a solution. For example, some of the challenges that affect communities are child delivery problems and high child mortality rates as a result of inadequate facilities in rural areas (Brown et al., 2016). The team can engage the authorities to increase the number of facilities within the rural areas.
Part Two
If I were the Director-General of the World Health Organisation, my health priority would be universal healthcare for all communities. The fact that some communities or individuals are unable to access health care services at the time of needs should not be experienced at this particular time when there are several emerging diseases that require the attention of health care providers (Araya et al., 2018). Universal healthcare that can be government funded or privately funded is a system where a particular region or country is assured to access health care. Once this is achieved the mortality rates and poor quality of life can be reduced. It is the single most powerful concept that public health has to offer because it unifies services and delivers them in an all-inclusive and integrated way (Blattner et al, 2018).
If I were the Australian health minister, my health priority would be closing the health gap that exist between non-indigenous and indigenous people of Australia. According to the study conducted by Lukaszyk et al. (2018), aboriginal people have several health disparities that lead to poor health outcomes hence low quality of life among these people. Being a minister of an Australia it is prudent that all people irrespective of their origin enjoy the most important factor of life, which is being healthy. In doing so, my priority would be provision or increasing the number of health facilities in the areas and creating awareness about healthy living. Most people in Aboriginal communities die because of lack of knowledge (Helson et al., 2017). Additionally, I would encourage universal health care so that every individual within these communities has a cheap access to healthcare services.
