Compensation and Employee Benefits
An employee compensation and benefit package plays a critical role in determining the overall wages or salaries for workers in their job profile. Compensation depicts a powerful tool for organizations to hire and retain workers, to inspire employee behavior in organizationally useful directions and establish strategic competitive advantages that competitors cannot copy (Tetrick, Weathington, Silva, & Hutcheson, 2010). This paper seeks to designs employee compensation and benefit package for the position of customer service call center at Daniels Manufacturing Company that is located in Greenville, South Carolina. A secretary is required to help the HR department because of the high number of workers recently hired. This secretary will help all HR representatives with filing, paperwork, hiring, selling benefits to workers, and offering counseling and general assistance to workers.
To start, a basic salary of $25,000 will be offered. A recent survey by the Bureau of Labour Statistics has indicated that the median wage for administrative assistant in South Carolina is $36,500 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, 2016). The survey further indicated that the lowest 10% earned less than $22,390 while the highest 10% earned over $60, 640. While we are alive to the fact that a salary of $25,000 is far below the recommended median salary, we believe that the opportunity for overtime and potential bonuses pushes the proposed salary nearer to the median. We will provide the employee with a basic salary that support him or her and equally impose risk income on him or her. Doing this enables the worker to demonstrate potential and desire to increase the company’s performance and advance his or her personal growth.
Bonuses will be offered up to 10% of the yearly salary according to performance. The more workers the organization has registered on various benefits, the more it will save and consequently the more workers will save. Daniels Manufacturing Company will promote employees based on their reliability at work. The organization will allow workers to sell back sick time and award additional bonuses to those employees who have not used their sick time completely. Besides that, the organization will offer health insurance, flexible spending accounts, and life insurance. Each employee will be required to pay a monthly premium but when enrolled in various alternatives, employees will get discounts on their monthly premium.
Reports have indicated that investing in a person’s future is essential and that every worker should start investing immediately he or she is hired (Tetrick, Weathington, Silva & Hutcheson, 2010). After two years of employment, our company will match contributions up to 6%. Once the employee has been worked with the company for ten years, his or her contribution matching will rise to 10%. Similarly, over the years, when the firm performs well, it will share its profit where funds will be included to each participant net salary based on the performance of the company. Upon hire, workers will be paid for holidays. Moreover, when called to work during holidays, the employee will receive holiday pay, as well as, pay for time worked. More importantly, newly recruited employees will get 80hrs of vacation period annually. However, this will increase to 120 hours annually after five years and 160 hours after ten years. Moreover, workers will get 4 days of personal time annually and five days of sick time. Workers may qualify for paid maternity and bereavement leave based on the duration they have worked with the organization.
The company also understands the emergencies usually occur and for this reason, it offers flex time opportunities in 4 or less hour increment. Moreover, the company offers compressed work week to assist fulfils family and personal commitments. The organization wants its employees to advance their education. For this reason, it offers tuition help up to $4000 annually for workers to pursue higher degrees, as well as, IT and professional certifications. Moreover, it provides various discounts and subsidies on different services and products.
In conclusion, due to various earnings and additional benefits that our company offers for the position of administrative assistant, it is not anything to doubt that the value has surpassed the median pay for the administrative assistant as recommended by the Bureau of Labour Statistics.
