There are four essay questions here, worth 10 points each, covering a few important ideas from Chapter 7; each should be answered with at least one very
long or two shorter paragraphs, though you may feel the need to go a bit longer for some if you want to explain the concepts more completely. Please make
sure to answer in your own words and don’t hesitate to ask if a question is confusing!
Tip: to make sure you’re answering each question with the most appropriate information, it’s a good idea to at least skim the entire chapter before starting.
Completing your MasteringGeography homework will help you with this. If you just open the book to find a section that *seems* like it’s answering the
question, you might miss a section that does a much better job of answering the specific question being asked, and might not earn many points!
Please copy the questions into a word processing document and answer below each question. Upload your answers as a .doc, docx, or .rtf file.
1. Summarize the natural sources (not human-caused) of climate change in your own words, referencing specific sections/pages and figures in our textbook.
Don’t overquote the textbook but make sure to include relevant quotes from the material in support of your summary.
2. Summarize (in your own words) the evidence that the global climate is presently warming, making specific references to sections, page numbers and
figures in our textbook, including direct quotations from the textbook in support of your own words.
3. Given that there are many natural sources of climate change as well as possible human causes, what evidence does our book present to indicate the
present warming is human caused? Please note this question isn’t asking what the sources of human climate change are. The question is: what is the
evidence it’s not natural sources causing the present warming, so therefore it must be us? Cite the textbook.
4. Reviewing section 7.10, which mitigation measure (7.50, 7.51, or 7.52) seems least achievable to you, and which seems most achievable? Explain why you
think the way you do about that.
