Credibility is an important aspect in performance psychology. In other words, it influences the rate of success or performance of individuals in this particular field (Kouzes & Posner, 2014). This paper discusses how I will demonstrate credibility as a new professional in performance psychology without an established track-record of success.
There are numerous ways in which one can demonstrate credibility as a new professional in performance psychology without an established track-record of success. Research has pointed out that credible performance psychologists are more likely to attract respect from their subordinates/ clients and influence them positively compared to non-credible ones (Yuille, 2013). As a result, new professionals in this field are recommended to develop and depict credibility in their areas of specialization to boost their overall performance and success. In this regard, persons can exhibit credibility by conducting themselves ethically and professionally (Yuille, 2013). That is to say, they can achieve this by familiarizing themselves with the laws and policies of their organization and field and observing them effectively. Similarly, they should be transparent in their actions and influence their team members towards a common objective. In other words, this will help foster trust and accountability between members and clients thus enhancing credibility (Yuille, 2013). Lastly, it is essential for persons to become experts in their field through continuous learning and development.
In conclusion, I will demonstrate accountability as a new professional in performance psychology by conducting myself professionally and ethically. I will also familiarize myself with the laws and regulations in my field and organization and adhere to them accordingly. Lastly, I will sharpen my skills and become an expert in my field through continuous learning and development to enhance my credibilty.
