After reading the selections from Lessons 2 and 3, choose one of the following topics to find out more about, and write a clearly developed and well-formed research paper on your chosen topic. Follow the writing process and be sure to cite two or more sources using MLA format. Your paper should be written following basic MLA rules.
Topics (Choose one and using your sources cited in MLA format, answer the questions below)
Using your source(s), explore the question: How did a diversity of views transform American society? Provide research in addition to your own analysis of some of the texts from lesson 2 such as "American Jezebel," "Repeal the Stamp Act!" and "Declaration of Independence." What ideas from the text reveal answers to the question? Use both outside sources and textual evidence from the selections in the course to develop your essay.
Past literary movements continue to be influential. Consider romanticism, realism, and modernism. How influential were ideas from those periods? Is that influence clearly seen in the texts you have read? Explain with textual evidence from both outside sources as well as from any of the stories from lesson 3.
Research and discuss this idea of money, status, and marriage during any periods you read about in lesson 3. Explain ideas from any of those periods, using both outside sources and ideas from the texts from lesson 3 such as Pride & Prejudice, After the Ball, and The Glass Menagerie. What were some of the social classes of this time? What problems were caused because of classism? Do we experience classism still today? How is that reflected in our society compared to how it was during any of those periods? Consider the types of jobs available to people, depending on social classes during that time. How do jobs nowadays reflect one's social status?
Research and discuss the role of women historically and present. What were some of the abuses of women? Consider the role women play in today's society, are they still subject to similar abuse? Use ideas from the stories you have read in this course as well as from outside sources for support in analyzing women historically and present.

Diversity of Views How did a diversity of views transform American society? Provide research in addition to your own analysis of some of the texts from lesson 2 such as "American Jezebel," "Repeal the Stamp Act!" and "Declaration of Independence." What ideas from the text reveal answers to the question? Use both outside sources and textual evidence from the selections in the course to develop your essay. The diversity of views, within the Australian society, influences people’s thought processes. This offers a foundational basis on how the diversity of views transformed the American Society. The changes are reflected in the manner in which people think of lifestyle, gender-norms and culture among others. This essay examines how the diversity of views transform the American society by incorporating lessons from texts such as the American Jezebel. The diversity of views transformed the America society for the better by changing people’s mindsets in relation to gender inequality. Evidently, in the past, women were considered as inferior to the men (Leibner 648). However, the views of people such as Anne Hutchison played a vital role in transforming the people’s mindsets. Notably, Hutchinson held public meetings with a focus on inspiring women. Most women encouraged their husbands to accompany them to the meeting as they considered Hutchinson’s words to be highly inspiring. In American Jezebel, Hutchinson is perceived as “a woman of a haughty and fierce carriage, a nimble wit and an active spirit, and a very voluble tongue” (LaPlante para. 6). Notably, her views inspired many since she had a strong voice that could not be easily silenced. Repeal the Stamp Act! provide an indication that people have diverse views regarding unjust laws. According to this text, it is clear that “As a city, we should stall the commissioners who try to collect this tax. We must convince them to resign! Together, we can stop this illegal Act. Help me stop future attempts at tyranny!”( "'Revolutionaries: A New History of the Invention of America'; by Jack Rakove." ). Through this statement, it is evident that people with the same views can combine their efforts to eliminate injustice in the society through encouraging a change in the unjust laws. Conclusively, different views aids in the transformation of the community for the better. People with differing views can lay out their opinions to aid in making desirable transformations in the community such as overcoming unjust laws and fighting cases of gender inequality.
