Answer
The nursing theories and ideas significantly affect the implementation of culturally proficient care since it provides the structure for various subsets of the discipline. The approaches involve four main concepts that address the patient in totality. The concepts include the health of the patients, environment, and responsibility as a nurse and the well-being of the patient (Joel, 2017). The future of advance practice nursing explores how responsibilities of nurses, education, and roles should change to address the increase demand of healthcare. The changes will be created by reforms in healthcare and improvement in the complex health system.
Nurses take most of their time caring for patients, thus, they are better suited to collaborate with other health professionals to improve the health outcome among the patients. Besides, nurses should assume leadership roles in designing care for patients (Bernard & Oster, 2018). The improvement in nursing education necessary for change includes advancing residency training to nurses and increasing the number of nurses attaining university degrees and double the number of nurses pursuing doctorate degrees (Joel, 2017). Based on my experience in practice, nurses who have achieved high-level education are creative, knowledgeable, and confident in their work. Besides, they earn more salary compared to other nurses of lower qualifications making their lives comfortable.
I agree with the definition of the IOM on the advanced practice registered nurse role evolving. The future of advance practice nurse's role entails primary care intervention as a crucial driver in the health system. There will be need for more interprofessional collaboration and coordination to improve patient outcomes (Bernard & Oster, 2018). The role of nursing will be reconstructed within the context of the entire workforce. Thus, there will be need to increase the capacity of nursing schools and redesigning nursing education (Bernard & Oster, 2018). The future of the role of advance nursing practice will involve innovation in care delivery to solve contemporary challenging issues in nursing profession.
