- QUESTION
Complete the family genetic history using the information that the adult participant is willing to share with you. The focus of this course is on the normal “healthy†individual so your paper does not need to contain much medical/nursing detail. Refer to your textbook or the Internet to learn what impact the family’s health history may have on the adult participant’s personal state of wellness both now and in the future.

1: Family Genetic History (35 points):
Develop a family genetic history that includes, at a minimum, three generations of your chosen adult’s family, including grandparents, parents, and the adult’s generation. If the adult has any children, include them as the fourth generation. **PLEASE NOTE: This assignment is to reveal the potential impact of the family’s health on the adult participant. You do not need to identify anyone who is not biologically related to the adult except for a spouse or significant other.
You do not need to use symbols, but instead write brief descriptions for each person. Each description should include the following information: first name, birthdate, death date, occupation, education, primary language, and a health summary, including any medical diagnoses. An example is below:

Family members share many factors in common including their genetic make-up. These factors may carry some medical conditions down the family line. Notably, the family’s genetic history of DT presents diabetes and its comorbidities as the most common chronic illness running in the family line. Considering that DT’s paternal grandfather, father, and three of their siblings were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and the fact that DT's mother died of breast cancer and his elder brother has been diagnosed with hypertension, it means that DT is at risk of developing type 2 diabetes and its morbidities such as stroke, heart disease, high blood pressure, certain cancers in future. Therefore, DT should take immediate measures to avert the risk. A family history of type 2 diabetes posits a higher incidence of the condition (HR 2.72, 95% CI 2.48, 2.99) hence, DT, now 41, is at the greatest risk of developing type two diabetes.
The information regarding the result that I would give DT is that type 2 diabetes that is genetically connected runs down his family line and that he stands a greater risk developing this disease in future. I would then advise him to improve his Odds by adopting the following changes to promote his optimal level of wellness;
DT should check on his weight by losing extra weight. Obesity and Overweight increase the risk of diabetes due to the presence of excess glycogen in the body.
DT should check on his diet and ensure a healthy diet. Poor diet is a significant risk factor for diabetes. For example, high cholesterol diet increases the risk of diabetes. Therefore, DT should promote healthy diet like the semi-vegetarian diet that contain a lot of fibers needed to improve blood sugar control, lowers the risk of heart disease and cancer and promote weight loss. His diet should contain a lot of fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains, nuts, and seeds.
DT should engage in regular physical activity. Physical activity helps in lowering blood sugar level and boosts the sensitivity to insulin hence promotes regulation of blood sugar that, if not regulated, would pose a greater risk of diabetes. Besides, physical exercise also promotes weight loss hence helps maintain a healthy weight.
DT should avoid smoking. Smoking boosts the risk of developing diabetes and lung cancer. Finally, I would advise DT to share his concerns about diabetes prevention with his doctor.
