Answer
Good News about God’s Kingdom
Jesus’ message about the Kingdom of God was unexpected in various ways. For instance, Jesus communicated a message that for one to become a leader, he/she should first consider being a servant to others. According to Matthew 20:24-28 (King James Version), Jesus taught James and John that they should consider being servants if they desire to become great among the others. Jesus equated this situation with the fact that the son of man did not come to be served but to serve the people. Ordinarily, people will know great women and men as those with power, authority and money. However, Jesus provided an indication that in God’s kingdom, those who are provided with the title of being great are those who are willing and ready to serve others.
Jesus also preached that for an individual to be worthy of the kingdom of God, he/she should love their enemy as a means of getting back to them (Bible Project, 2021). In most cases, people will always look for ways of revenging against those who have wronged them. However, Jesus considers this as a wrong approach as presented in Matthew 5:43-44. In this section of the Bible, Jesus educates that people should love their enemies, offer blessing to those who curse them, and pray for those who persecute them. This is a message, which fails to make sense to many. Paul enhanced Jesus’ message further by recording that not only are those who seek to have their way to the kingdom of God should love their enemies, but also refrain from getting back at them as this is the most effective means of revenge.
Conclusively, Jesus’ message about God’s Kingdom is inverted and unexpected because it guides people to do the opposite of what is considered right by their natural minds. For instance, loving one’s enemies rather than getting back at them is one of the inverted messages communicated by Jesus.
