Answer
Healthcare Administrators and the Public Policy Process
While healthcare facilities provide optimal care to patients fairly, administrators help institute public policies, reduce patient errors, and make it advantageous to the organizations. Administrators in healthcare facilities have effectively used the public policy process to favour the facilities through problem identification, risk assessment of policies, cost and consequence estimation of policies, and active policymaking participation.
Administrators boost the organization’s image by identifying critical problems. During patient care, healthcare professionals may make mistakes that lead to patient errors. Administrators follow public policies to help reprimand practitioners who violate patient-care guidelines (Sfantou et al., 2017). Administrators protect the image and professionalism of the organization, hence ensuring proper care continues.
Secondly, administrators assess public policy risks to the healthcare facilities, ensuring that the facilities provide care to all. Administrators ensure that all can access insurance benefits as per the Affordable Care Act that guarantees that all people have access to care while preventing fraud and denying people care (Sfantou et al., 2017). Administrators ensure that by assessing such risks, they align and achieve organizational goals of patient care provision.
Administrators should carry out cost estimations on public policies on how they affect the healthcare facilities. Assessing the cost of implementing cost estimates ensures that healthcare facilities do not overspend on policy implementation and lack to provide essential patient care (Sfantou et al., 2017). This ensures that healthcare facilities stay within a budget that ensures no department is strained for resources and optimal healthcare objectives are achieved.
Lastly, administrators should ensure that there is participation in the public policy process. Legislation happens in real-time with current events that help in pushing for affordable and efficient healthcare services (Khatana et al., 2017). This assures that administrators will be a part of policies implemented to help the organization become better at service delivery.
Administrators, as part of healthcare personnel, can improve quality optimal care through public policy processes that assure that organizations are profitable and in line with the organization’s goals and objectives. Ensuring that administrators achieve this ensures organizational success in optimal patient care.
