Question 1
According to my perspective and understanding, there are several most critical needs that families in a community affected by a disaster will necessitate. The first need is food aid. It is essential to ensure that food aid reaches the most vulnerable families while adhering to fundamental principles of neutrality and impartiality. Another acute need is a temporary shelter. This can either be a church, school or camp set aside by the government or disaster response programs. Moreover the families will also need clothes to keep them warm and healthcare services. The most critical long-term needs of the families in a community affected by a disaster include building permanent houses, finding new employments, and relocating to new areas. The best model to address the above basic needs is through the emergency management approach, which incorporates finding a suitable location where the families can stay as they get back on their feet.
