Answer

Organization Behavior

Prompt One

As the company prepares to grow, it is imperative to keep the following factors in mind in preparation for the expansion. First, the design of the organization. The company is planning to undertake a massive growth that will significantly increase the number of its employees and the scope of its operations. Employees are a vital resource in an organization, but only if they are managed properly. Therefore, the company should pay close attention to organizational design as it will determine its degree of formalization, the managers' span of control. The chain of command and the type of work specialization adopted. The aspects of organizational design will enable the manager to have a comprehensive outlook of how information will flow in the expanded organization and is therefore, an integral aspect to consider.

The manager should also consider the level of competition in the market. Business organizations do not operate in a vacuum as they have competitors in the same market. It is imperative to consider the level of competition in the market before embarking on any expansion project. Expanding the business beyond its market share capacity will be a futile exercise since the level of revenues generated will not match the new size of the company. Therefore, it is important to consider the level of competition in the market and the organization's competitive advantage. If competition is stiff, but the company has a significant competitive advantage to leverage in increasing its market share, then it can continue with the expansion.

Also, management must consider the employees' level of motivation. Implementing such as massive change needs the full cooperation of employees.  Therefore, employees must be highly motivated to increase their level of engagement in the affairs of the company, thus reducing the chances of any resistance towards the proposed expansion project.

Prompt Two

One of the important ways of fostering knowledge development in an organization is through knowledge management. The knowledge employees have determines their level of efficiency and, therefore, their performance, which determines the organization's performance.  It is, therefore, imperative for human resource managers to adequately manage employees' tacit and codified knowledge. Knowledge management is important because of the following reasons; first, it promotes innovation among the organization's employees. Knowledge management promotes the sharing   of ideas among employees thus increasing the chances of innovation in the company.

Secondly, it improves the business units' efficiency in the organization and that of its business processes.  Through knowledge management, employees working in a business unit share information on the processes that take place in the business unit. The shared information makes it easy for the unit to operate at an optimal capacity even if one of the employees falls sick and fails to report to work since the other employees are knowledgeable in the tasks performed by the absent employee and can therefore handle then without reducing the level or quality of performance.  Thirdly, it increases the rate of customer satisfaction since all employees are well-versed in the company's operation and can, therefore, easily answer questions raised by the customers.

The human resource manager can advance the strategic goal by implementing the following measures; first, encouraging delegation of tasks with the business to increase sharing knowledge. Secondly, ensuring there are handover notes that are well documented and easy to understand, such that when an employee leaves an organization, the knowledge remains. Additionally, need-based periodic training also plays a crucial role in knowledge management
