- QUESTION
After reviewing the link to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), discuss the implications of the act from the viewpoint of a specific population which represents some type of health disparity, as defined in your readings this week. Here is the link: http://www.hhs.gov/healthcare/about-the-law/index.html
Look specifically at your STATE and see if you can locate specific information on how the ACA has been implemented at the STATE level and how this is reflected in the care of the individuals in the group you specify.

Answer
Implications of the Affordable Car Act for Minority Health Disparity
One of the significant coverage provisions of the ACA (Affordable Care Act) is the extension of the Medicaid eligibility to the minority and low-income persons. The ACA has a significant implication for the minority. Arnold (2014) asserts that for Asian, Latino, and black persons, approximately two-thirds of the mechanisms aimed at realizing quality care are not advancing. Despite many factors being linked to these disparities, the absence of insurance happens to be a key contributor.
Ethnic/racial minority groups constitute a third of the population in the U.S, but half of them are uninsured (Arnold, 2014). The implementation of the ACA will bring health insurance coverage to 32 million uninsured individuals within the U.S. Arnold (2014) informs that via the expansion of the Medicaid, government subsidies, and insurance exchanges, 60 % of uncovered Latinos, 81% of uncovered African-Americans, and 60% of Uncovered Pacific Islanders will acquire insurance coverage (Arnold, 2014). The ACA will also ensure the increase in the figure of the underrepresented minority factions within the healthcare workforce through the reauthorization of the Centers of Excellence and the Health Career Opportunity Program. This intervention aims at recruiting and retaining members of racial or ethnic minority factions to the health experts.
In Florida, a state recognized for hosting a diverse and large population, the implementation of the ACA has not been successful, particularly in relation to the expansion of the Medicaid eligibility (Schencker, 2015). This state relies on federal market place in enrolling individuals in health plans (Schencker, 2015). As such, the ethnic minority groups in this state continue to experience major challenges getting insurance coverage. Therefore, adequate measures should be embraced to ensure that the ACA undergoes complete implementation within Florida to ensure that health insurance coverage is offered to the ethnic minority factions/groups.
