   In Amy’s article, health associated infections (HAIs) have evolved as previously, they were known to affect only the acute-care sectors, however, this has changed and the microorganisms now target the whole healthcare setting. Despite of measures taken to decrease infections rates, the microbiology of the microorganisms is resistant thus causing challenges in implementing evidence-based strategies. The author believes that involvement of departmental infection control program, employing infection control personnel and nurses taking up their responsibility roles will help in alleviating the spread of HAIs. This article proposes for interventions on process and outcome mechanism to scale out which processes bear good healthcare outcomes. This article is consequently relevant to the problem of injuries and infections in operating rooms as it gives the causes and expands on the required evidence-based solutions.

She asks whether, these solutions directly address the improvement of operating rooms safety and are they evidence-based, to be executed across the healthcare fraternity. This is an important research question, as options need to be well articulated and critiqued so as to implement critically reviewed and potential-based proposals. The author validates the incorporation of the instructions for use pamphlets and their necessity during operation. The article associates tobacco smoking with causing an array of health problems in healthcare institutions and recommends for the immediate stoppage of the act. The foundation of this research article is built on the understanding of the implication of unsafe operating rooms safety standards. Henceforth, its conclusion presents a clear summary of the procedures needed to be taken to account to address this problem.

   Spagnolo et al.’s (2013) article does not lack in agreement, to Amy’s article, as the authors also link patient morbidity and death to surgical site infections (SSIs). They however present an argument that some of the deaths are as a result of elderly surgical patients or immune-compromised patients as they are susceptible to infections. Their research also notes a unique antibiotic resistance of the microorganisms. Since SSIs are diverse, as they are endogenous and exogenous, the researchers demand a multidisciplinary based approach to derail the spread of SSIs. Research highly recommends all healthcare personnel, especially those responsible for design, hospital layout and operational of surgical rooms to combine efforts in this continuum. HAIs seem to spread fast and cause suffering, as described in this article, this calls for consistent establishment of evidence-based mechanism and technology to counter the problem.

   Obstacles in Implementing Evidence-Based Practices to Reduce HAIs

   It is agreeable that implementing such diverse practices, some of which may be uncommonly practical in some areas, is challenging. Furthermore, the quality and accessibility of research is fundamental to implement practices for reducing HAIs. (2014), argue that key principles affecting an appropriate preventive practice rests on individual and national level of contribution.    Conclusively, healthcare facilities are susceptible to injuries and infections, hence causing a health research problem, since deaths and hospital morbidity are resultant features. However, all is not lost; putting together investigative and evidence-based approaches will alleviate this problem. While negligence, lack of teamwork and poor organizational mechanisms are drivers of health associated infections, they are also solutions when properly looked into. Effective teamwork ensures members of the faculty are sensitized, errors are reported and actions are taken. When medical practitioners are more careful in surgical rooms, errors are less likely to occur. Input of infection control personnel may help identify and control arising infection issues. Finally, a well oriented and cohesive executive team will promote safety through implementing safety measures, educating the staff on importance of safety measures and correcting errors immediately.
