Job Title: Performance Improvement Nurse

Date: 10th June, 2015

Career Path to Nursing

Immediately after the completion of my High School, I decided to take the Bachelor of Science Nursing. This program required four years for completion. While still studying, I managed to learn a lot of things that are important in the healthcare setting such as lab work, performing exams on patients, evaluate and record patient symptoms and many more. Aside from that, my internship placement also enhanced my experience in the field, as I worked in a health facility for one year.

The Value of Best Evidence

At my facility, value of best evidence is a driving force in delivery of nursing care in that treatment is only administered basing on evidence. Treatment is never administered basing on assumptions.

Safeguards and Decision-Making Support Tools

The tools embedded include the electronic health records, computer information systems, and other telecommunication technologies.

Patient Care Technologies

The technologies that have improved patient care at my facility includethe electronic medical records, the presence of evidence based, physician-authored database, and communication equipment such as the pager.

Healthcare Workers Relying on me

The doctors and lab technicians rely on me to collect high-quality information which they will use to help in the diagnosis and treatment of patient illness.

My Typical Day on the Job

I usually arrive for day shifts at 8 am every day of the week. Upon my arrival, I receive patients by checking their details through the electronic health records. I then take the vital signs such as weight, heart rate and blood pressure before forwarding the document to the doctor. Sometimes, I perform fast aid to patients before the doctor examines them.

Follow up Questions

The completion of this interview will enable me to know which career path to follow as it gives me an idea of what a RN’s day is like. It also enables me to understand the various types of technology that I will need to familiarize with, such as the electronic health records, telecommunication technologies and so much more.

The resources I used to familiarize myself with the role of the individual include; “A Patient with Metabolic Syndrome and the Role of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse” (Mallory, Angosta&Kawi, 2014) and “Senior nurse role expectations of graduate registered and enrolled nurses on commencement to practice” (Jacob, McKenna &D'Amore, 2014).
